2 Corinthians 4:3,4 - "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." -
Since God doesn't save anyone against their will, does it really do any good to pray for people who consciously refuse to receive Jesus as Lord?
YES IT DOES!
Unbelievers who have purposely refused to receive Jesus as Lord think they've made that decision of their own free will -- the truth is, they haven't. The Word of God says they've been blinded by Satan. He's Blocking their perception of the truth. So their decision hasn't been freely made at all.
Through the prayer of intercession, you can interfere with the satanic forces and help take those blinders off! You can also change circumstances with your prayers and help create situations that will bring them in contact with the Lord. Believe when you pray and open their eyes to the glorious gospel of God.
1 John 3:20,21 - "If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God."
If you don't forgive yourself, it can keep you from receiving healing, and it can keep your prayers from being answered because your faith won't work except by love.
If you don't forgive yourself, it will hinder your faith just as much as unforgiveness toward another person will hinder your faith. It's just as wrong not to forgive yourself and to harbor ill will and animosity against yourself as it is not to forgive someone else.
Many Believers want certainty before they obey. They want all their questions answered before they move forward. Yet throughout Scripture, God rarely provides complete understanding at the beginning of the journey. Instead, He gives enough light for the next step and asks us to trust Him with the rest. Faith is not the absence of questions. Faith is obedience in the presence of unanswered questions.
Satan's strategy has not changed since the Garden. He still invites us to depend upon ourselves rather than upon God. He encourages us to believe that our efforts, religious activities, or personal achievements make us worthy of God's favor. Whenever we accept that lie, we begin eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil instead of the Tree of Life.
The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil represents far more than the temptation to commit obvious sin. It also symbolizes a life rooted in self-dependence. Whether our confidence rests in our failures or our successes, our focus remains on ourselves instead of on Christ.
When we choose the tree of life, we stop measuring our worth by our successes or failures. Instead, we rest in our identity as sons and daughters of God, fully accepted because of Christ. That is the life Jesus came to give -- a life marked by freedom instead of striving, confidence instead of condemnation, and grace instead of guilt.
