Our lives cannot be like "teeter-totters" that shift one way, then go the other way. We have a DESTINY!
Divine focus is an essential element that steers us like the rudder does a ship into the place of consistent Great Commission consciousness, displacing the previous life devoted to promoting our self-goals and agendas. Imagine a ship that is constantly going off course. It may get back on course over and over again, but so much time is wasted. That is why Paul tells us to run the race "to win".
1 Corinthians 9:24 - "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain."
Genesis 5:24 - "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him."
Even though Enoch did not "taste death" in the natural, his old nature was consumed in God. By walking with God, His glory changed him, consuming his fallen nature and replacing it with His nature.
Even so, if we try to crucify ourselves, the result will be self-righteousness. Our old nature was crucified with Christ on the cross. We consider our old nature as dead, so we can experience the ascended life in Christ. We will never be changed by seeing who we are, but by beholding who He is and our Christ identity. As we behold Him, we embrace and identify with His cross and His resurrection.
Numbers 14:24 "But My servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed Me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it."
Through our persistence and consistency in abiding in the love of Christ and SPIRITUAL ACTION TAKEN ON BEHALF OF DISCIPLING OTHERS into their Christ identity, right standing with God, and walking in the Spirit, we lay the foundation for fulfilling the Great Commission by bearing fruit that remains.
If we lose sight of OUR PURPOSE that God has for us being here, we will drift aimlessly into things that are not fulfilling, but leave us empty and confused as to why we are here. Like Caleb, we need a "different spirit" that is exemplary in faith. For he who is born of God "overcomes" the world, possessing and inheriting the promises. (1 John 5:4)
