John 8:39 - "They answered and said to Him, 'Abraham is our father.' Jesus said to them, 'If you are Abraham's children, do the deeds of Abraham.'"
Abraham was an alien and a stranger on the earth. The goal of his life was to have a place in what God was building, not men.
We are not the heirs of faith because we know that we must live by faith, but we become the heirs of faith by actually having faith, by doing the same deeds that Abraham did.
We must devote ourselves to finding what God's purpose is for our life and sacrifice whatever is required to accomplish it.
