So the last week or so have been a little rattling for me. Tonight, I was feeling a little down about things. I'm not talking completely depressed or anything but I could be better. I think we all have these days. Now that the summer is here, my kids are out of school which means, due to work schedules, they are spending a little more time with their mother. I don't have them M-F as I did during the school year. So it's awfully quiet around here. This of course leaves the mind a lot of time to wander. I try to occupy it with reading, which for the most part works pretty well. Tonight however, has just been a little more somber.
So I turned on some music and this song came on. And it got me to thinking, "where do I seek shelter and comfort". I know where I am supposed to seek shelter and comfort but do I always go there? This song reminded me, and we all need this reminder, that He is the Great I Am.

No problem is too big, no sorrow is too heavy. His shoulders are strong enough to carry you and your burdens. When you really think about that, its quite amazing and really demands the worship and praise He so rightly deserves. And what a friend to have. His hand is powerful enough to conquer evil and gentile enough to brush away our tears.

He forgives on levels we cant even begin to compete. And, being the most loving father in the universe, when life has gotten the best of you, there He is, arms wide open and ready to lift you up on His shoulders. It's kind of exciting if you really think about it. Picture coming home from work and there are your kids racing towards you at breakneck speed to hold you and there you are with arms wide open. I kind of compare it to that. Except, I am waiting to come home and race towards my Father, arms wide open, eager to abide in His love forever.

And as I think over this, my troubles begin to slip away. Because at the end of the day we all just want to be loved. And at the start and end of everyday He is there to love us unconditionally all the way until He decides our work is done on earth and we can come home.
As strange as it sounds though, I enjoy doing His work here on Earth. It will be kind of a bummer when the work is done but the reward of unending love is just too good to pass up. So I will be more than happy to punch my time-card and call it day.
The great wedding feast awaits! That will beat any home cooked meal on any given day!! Well, I have rambled on enough. Here is the song. Its by Phillips, Craig, and Dean. The Great I Am!!
