History-makers for the Lord are usually men with lowly background who God uses mightily, rather than men who have everything but a heart for God. Look at D.L Moody. He is not very educated. John Bunyan is just a man of lowly background, yet his book is now used by the Lord as a classic for literature. Smith Wigglesworth is just an illiterate person, and yet, the Lord uses him to do miracles. Peter, James and John are just fishermen. And David is but a shepherd. Mary is just a nobody teenage girl when the Lord chooses to use her to be the mother of Jesus. Unlike men, God looks at the heart. If you have a heart for Jesus, God will use you, even if you are the lowest of the scrum of the world, and the most notorious person with the worst reputation. Matthew is a tax-collector. His original name is Levi. His parents may have originally wanted him to be a Levite. In any case, he is a black sheep for the family, but the Lord uses him. History is full of examples of men and women with a heart for God that God uses for His glory. So even if you are the scrum of the world, even if you are lowly-educated, even if you have a bad reputation in your society or even church, if you love Jesus and if you will give your heart and all of your being to Him, He will use you. And He will use you, mightily.

On the other hand, if you are educated, if you are talented, if you are gifted, and yet your heart is cold and you don't really love God, the Lord will reject you, one day, like the way He rejected king saul, like the way he rejected the false prophets and the false teachers, like the way he rejected the Pharisees and the teachers of the laws. It is not wrong to be educated, to be clever, to be talented, God uses Paul. He is very talented and clever. He is a good theologian. God uses Daniel. He is a very wise guy. He can comprehend mystery. He can interpret dream. He is also of a nobleman status. God uses Joseph and Moses and they are both educated and privileged people. Joseph is the favorite child of his father. Moses is the son of the daughter of the Pharaoh. God uses Charles Spurgeon. He is an oracle. God uses Billy Graham. He is a bible school graduate. Not all the people God uses are the scrum of the world, or the super ungifted and untalented people.

The emphasis is not on gifts, it is not on how much you have outwardly. If you have only very little gifts or talents, God can and will use you. On the other hand, if you have many gifts and talents, God also can and will use you. The emphasis is not on the gifts and talents that you have but it is on what you have inside you, your heart.

Do you have a heart, a heart that loves Jesus, a heart that loves God, a heart that will obey what He says and a heart that takes Him, seriously? If you do, you are someone God will and can use even if you are the scrum of the world and the most ungifted and untalented of all people. On the other hand, if your heart is cold, if your heart is wicked, if your heart has no love for God, or people, then God will never use you, even if you are the most talented and gifted of all men.

Lucifer (the devil)was more talented and gifted than any of you. He was musically talented, he was beautiful, he was strong and he was wise. But he lacked one thing. He lacked a heart that loved God. He lacked a heart that loved. He cared only for himself. That was why he wanted to overthrow God. He wanted to receive the worship God had. He was not grateful at all towards God for all the talents and abilities that God had given to him. And so, God rejected him in the end and threw him out of heaven.

Have a heart for God and let God use you to be a history maker, regardless of whether you are talented or not. Do not take pride in your talents or abilities but rather humble yourself before God. Let Him use you for His glory!
