Okay, so for those of you who don't already know,.. a couple of days ago I found a cat in a cemetery and it was when I was geocaching with my mom. We gave it fresh food and water but lately I haven't been able to get it out of my mind because even though there were houses nearby it looked and acted like it was starving and there have been some cold and rainy nights. :(

I really want to go check on it and bring it home to keep it (even though I wasn't originally planning on wanting another cat) but there are two issues with that. One, I already have a cat as most of you probably already know named Jessie and we're not sure how they would get along,.. and two,.. we're not sure if he or she already belongs to somebody but I can't stop thinking about them. Any ideas or advice? @Devin Wintch, @Taodeching,.. you're cat people do you have any suggestions? And @JohnDB I know you're not a cat person but I could really use some fatherly advice right now.

Oh yes third issue is that the cat was found like a half an hour from where we live and fourth being we're not sure if it's healthy (although it appears to be for the most part) and spayed or neutered. It was so cute, sweet, loving, and affectionate though and I just don't know what to do. :(

Edit: I think that @Mayflower is a cat lady too so I'm going to tag her as well. As well as @FluffyYellowDuck.

That is a hard one. I couldn't keep from bringing the baby home but I am in the same situation and my fur baby is queen. I kid and say see is a gang leader because all the fur babies come to the sliding glass door and she tries to fight them. We call them her friends which she gives us a look :).

What we done is got the cheap food from the store and put some out, maybe you all can discreetly put some out and see what happens. I will pray for the baby

Yeah and the thing is that my mom really wants to keep it too. I'm thinking of a proposition to make. If we go and check on the cat by next week and it's still there that we'll bring it home with us and maybe advertise that we found a cat? And if nobody claims it we can possibly keep it if it gets along with our other one and there's a chance she might actually go for it!!! :D

Yeah,.. the only thing that I'm worried about is our other cat and I don't know how to handle that problem of what if they don't get along or she (Jessie) gets sick or something. :/ That's what I really need help with. I just know that I can't name this furbaby until I have a plan because in the words of Mike from Monsters' Inc. once I name it,.. I start getting attached to it and it might actually have a home.

Is your cat inside or outside? The new cat can stay outside. If you set food out where the cat knows where to get it, it will probably hang around. We had a cat that would come back every three days or so. LOL. Take off again. Kept our place clear of mice. Brought us presents. Lol.

Going back in a week would be a good idea. Put food out to get the cat used to y'all. It might go with y'all easier

My cat loves every animal except other cats... Then you would think she was demon possessed. Just make sure your cat is not like that. :D

Jessie is an indoor only cat and remember the cat that we found was thirty minutes from our house so that's an issue right there and I'm not sure if making this cat an outdoor only cat is such a good idea because once we bring them to a new neighborhood what if they wander away and get lost or hit by a car or something? :( (That's the reason that Jessie is indoors. Here's her right here and I love my baby girl to death!!! :D)

Mine is the same:)

The problem is that she doesn't have such a good history with other cats. The person that we got her from couldn't keep her anymore because all of their other cats were mean to her and I really don't want her to have to go through that again. :( That was shortly after our other kitty,.. Jasmine, ran away. She burst out through the screen door and I never saw her again. :'( She was a silly little girl though and I'll never stop loving her either. Both of my kitties have been my babies. :)

She's a cute baby

Thanks, I know right? She is so adorable. If you guys help me figure out what to do when it comes to both cats' safety then I think I could convince my mom (since I currently still live with her) to let us at least temporarily keep it with us until somebody comes to claim it if they ever do. :)

Cats are much smarter then dogs in the living outside area. They are made for the outdoors. I have an indoor only cat, but our outside cat of ten years or so... (we moved and the new owners tore the house down, so never saw her again. :( ) he was never happy indoors. He got so depressed, we finally let him out. Depends on the cat. And never agreed with declawing

Oh and now when it gets to be nicer weather we leave a glass window over the screen so we don't lose another kitty that way. We think that she was chasing after another black neighborhood cat.

Maybe so, but it's still way too busy of traffic around here and declawing should be made illegal!!!

Do you think having a baby gate up in the guest room would work until we're able to get the stray cat to a veterinarian? The only problem there is that either cat could leap over it.

The stray cat? That's a little iffy since it is currently living at a cemetery. We last saw it underneath a tree and shivering in the cold. :(

Well we will just hope your cat is not like tso's or mine. LOL
