I am wondering where is the line drawn for music to be Christian in secular music and entertainment. I have been moved by some mainstream music throughout the years that have turned me to God or made me think of God and Jesus. Yet they were not traditional Christian or church music.
Also I think the Christian music industry is itself of the world in that its commercialising Christianity. Though I don't want to tar every song as un Christian. Gods spirit works in many ways. But I think the music has to produce good fruits like any preaching.
Here is a couple of examples from contemporary music that was not traditionally Christian music but caused me to think of God and Jesus.
Spirit in the sky was a big secular hit. I am not sure if it was because of the music, the guitars and rock beat. But the song is actually saying that people have to accept Jesus to enter Gods kingdom.
This ones a bit more ambigious as it keeps saying Jesis is alright and my friend. But still I don't think a song would be popular like this today in mainstream music.
I remember Cat Stevens was all the rage in the 70's and 80's with Christian themed songs that had mainstream success. Like "Morning has broken:.
