Self life, why is the self life sinful?

Own will or that which is called the self life, is sinful, because, it by it’s very nature, is a striving after that high and exalted state it had before the fall…. Because this life that was brought forth by the fall is of a lower nature than the life that perished, therefore does this life drive the will to use everything it can of this world to once again achieve, to the best of it’s ability, a higher and a more exalted state than it finds itself in this world… It seeks the beautiful things, the grandiose things, the best of this, the best of that… When it finds it can’t have, it will use all at it’s disposal to achieve…

This is why, in this life’s desire, when something that is thought to satisfy is achieved, it is discovered it does not satisfy, than something else is looked to for satisfaction, and the same thing happens again, no satisfaction is found… But still again it searches for that thing that will satisfy by any and all means… Therefore does the nature of this life, lie, steal, cheat, look to take advantage of whomever and whatever it can, to get what it knows not what… For it must again seek to elevate itself to the highest state it can in all things, for it knows not, that only by the doing of righteousness can this state be found…

This is own will or the life of self, this is the life that needs to be ended… Therefore because this is necessary to redeem man, Christ came to bring this nature to death, for this is what was necessary for the salvation of man, the death of this nature… For this is what Christ accomplished on the cross with His death, He tasted death for every man, meaning, that He took us to death with Him, making His death ours…

It is the willingness to give up the life of this world by the only means available, and that is faith… For faith is that which can look away from the life of this world, for that is that which is required to come out from under the dominion of this life… The will and desire of the heart wanting to be free from this life and therefore making a conscious choice to choose to accept, by faith, that which is offered by another, that is, the salvation that is offered from this life, by being joined by faith in having both died and having been resurrected when the One that was sent, died and was resurrected…

The simplicity of the Gospel of Christ is just that, simple… But will only be simple to the heart that sees it’s need to be freed from the nature of this world with all it’s longings and desires to elevate itself… Than the dividing line will be known, Christ or self, this line will be known by experience…

For this new creation promised in Christ Jesus starts with the new birth and will grow according to the will, desire and faith of each and every life that would have it, but can only grow to the degree the old life is done away with…

Be blessed in the life that would have it..

The problem that I see with self is that it says, "I can stand on my own, I can be my own god." It is pride and it separates from God.
In a nutshell, self is dealt with by walking out Luke 9:23.
...it is no longer I (self) who live, but Christ who lives in me...Galations 2:20
I die to self so that I can live in Christ.
This death is a progressive process (sanctification), involves suffering, flies in the face of "your best life now," and is God's will for followers of Jesus.
The new testament apostles teach this.

The wells of the world... all empty. there’s only one thing worthy of our pursuit. In turning to Christ, He will say... this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.

So many of us pursue the praise of men. The only thing that will make our joy full is to hear from Him that we have His approval. Once this happens we see all these empty wells for what they truly are, and surrender our mining efforts. We begin a quest of mining the true riches of God.

Awesome post brother,
Yes! It seems just like that. Those seeking the things of this world just get more of "this world" and, NEVER are they filled. Their cisternsare seives. Nothing holds to the full as God's cup!

Psalms 16:5

"The LORD [is] the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot."
Psalm 23:5:
"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over."

Agreed...the more one who seeks the things of the world, the more empty their cups are. The more one seeks God, the more their cup will be
filled to the brim to overflowing!

"It is the willingness to give up the life of this world by the only means available, and that is faith… For faith is that which can look away from the life of this world, for that is that which is required to come out from under the dominion of this life…"

For sure bro...without faith...there is NO way to please Him, submission will bring us "new life", Christ Life! He fills our cup if we submit and let Him fill our open hands and hearts.
The Gospel IS simple...man confuses it...Satan behind the man...

"For this new creation promised in Christ Jesus starts with the new birth and will grow according to the will, desire and faith of each and every life that would have it, but can only grow to the degree the old life is done away with…"

Agreed. He cannot put His will into your life until you are empty of the "old man". Open those tightly grasped hands! Let HIM fill you with His will and you will NEVER go wrong.
Good post bro,
In Him,
nancy

It is also the simplicity of the New Covenant: That we die to ourselves and be raised up in newness of Life in Him.

I was just responding to another thread where a member said this:

Forgiveness of sin is grace to grow towards the transforming of our hearts to the image of Christ. We can uphold the Law through the faith of Christ, which is obedience to the Father through the Spirit[life] of the Son. So while the Penalty of Sin was taken care of by His death, the issue is now continuing to stay cleansed. It is an issue because apart from God we can do nothing. We must stay connected. The blood it seems is life for life. In other words it's applied as you give up yours...

To which I replied:

This is astonishingly good in my opinion, especially a life for a life, and that we are saved by grace to walk in a newness of Life, and if we do not continue to allow ourselves to be transformed we have essentially broken covenant with Him by no longer allowing Christ to be Lord over our lives. If we would stay in the New Covenant, it involves continuing to take up our cross daily and die to self that He might live. Anything else is not even understanding what the covenant is, for in the communion, He ordained that we take Christ within us and recognize that He has died for us and for all others who are part of His body.
Forgiveness is to those who keep the commandments of the Lord.

Wonderful to read two posts that seem to coincide so well with each other, and express what I believe to be good sound New Testament theology,

As our hearts so learns Christ, the freedom and glories that are revealed show forth the blessings of belonging to Him…

I think I can agree with that. We might actually be a little at odds theologically if I'm reading you right, but I'd rather be in agreement anyway : )

God hates selfishness. This was the point Christ made when he did the most unselfish of things of dying on the cross for others. God put us before his own son, and it just doesn't get much more unselfish than that.

Yet even after all Christ/God did/does for us, I have to wonder how many professed Christians, including myself, make it a habit of putting others first?

Question: Why do Christians believe in the trinity (not all) when Jews and Muslims believe in one God?
Answer: Mulitple Christian sects arguing with each other, insisting that each one's viewpoint is correct.
Noise in the background: Muslims rolling on the ground, howling with laughter.
Mr. Khalid asked the question.
Does this answer yours?
(I just witnessed this on another site).
