Everything God made is good. Sex, alcohol, and marijuana.

It's our abuse of it that's bad.

I was trying to find a thought about it and I realized I don't really have any thoughts about it... haha
I do think it's lame though that people get locked in a cage for growing a plant...
And I do find it interesting that drugs that make you think less seem to be the ones that are legal and drugs that make you think more are illegal...
Which is why I quit smoking weed back in the day... shiz made me paranoid... haha

What's up buddy... do you smoke weed?
Is that what you're struggling with?
If so just know there's no judgment from me at all and I welcome you to share how you're feeling about it...

I personally think that any mood altering or mind altering drugs is not a good thing to have. I believe that this is what God has against being drunk. There is one thing that needs to be considered.

Rev 9:24 [sup]21[/sup]Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

The word for sorceries here is the greek word pharmakeia. Which is where we get the word pharmacy from. I personally believe that there are 4 types of misuse from drugs. (1) taking drugs in order to explore spiritual realms, (2) taking drugs in order to engage in "sorcery, witchcraft and magic arts" while under their influence, (3) giving drugs to other people in order to gain control over them, which is another form of "sorcery, witchcraft and magic arts," and (4) taking drugs for pleasure. The last is a misuse because the drugs in question--beside whatever temporary enjoyment they provide, and apart from their adverse medical and psychological effects--open a person to supernatural or spiritual experiences; but these experiences are almost always demonic and not from God, since the Holy One of Israel reveals himself through his Word (Rom 1:16-17, 10:8-17), not through drugs.

Render unto Caeser that which is Caesar's.

If the law states the possessing or smoking of pot is illegal, the whole "everything God made is good" argument goes right out the window.

Don't forget the, "And to God what belongs to God" part... and since God created weed... I guess it belongs to Him... but I personally believe everything created belongs to Him... even the money Caesar made with God's materials... haha

I look at it all like this... if someone walked into your lumber yard and used your materials to build a house would that be their house?

We walk on God's creation and make stuff out of His materials and then call it ours... the reality is nothing belongs to us... it's all His...

Thanks for the inputs, Robbie- I do currently smoke weed, not struggling with it, I actualy quit smoking for several months and just began to a little bit, willing to quit if it is an unrighteous act, and talking to the Lord seeking answers.
And to the person who said render to ceaser, I have that in mind, and I dont purchase marijuana which is illegal, and I dont possess marijuana which is illegal; I occasionally smoke it for free. More inputs please.. And to the person who wrote about 'sorceries' im gonna look into that and ask my jewish friend about the words. I dont enter spiritual realms or anything like that, I simply smoke the herb and thank God for it.

Not sure how the laws are where you live but most of my friends who smoke weed have a medical marijuana card... you can pretty much get one for a spranged ankle in Cali and it makes you legal... that deals with the Caesar thing.... haha

But I think the more important principle is how is it effecting you personally... God isn't going to hold back anything from us that's good for us... so do you feel convicted about it? I don't mean convicted by people's perception of you... but do you feel convicted by God speaking to your conscience? Do you feel like God's telling you to stop?

Also... how is it effecting your life?

Like I have friends who take a hit of weed when they get off work and relax with a glass of wine and I don't see it really effect their life in a negative way... but I also have friends that are paranoid and anti social and don't get anything done because they wake and bake and smoke non stop tell they fall asleep at night...

Blessing buddy...

I am observing the ways its affecting my walk with God currently and I dont wake and bake or anything like I use to, just take a few hits if a friend has some.. The laws in texas are against possessing it, and I do not possess it I just smoke whats presented to me. Im in the process of waiting or trying to find an answer from the Lord, he always chastizes and corrects me so I know he will either give me a yes or a no.

So did God create something bad?

Sorry, I disagree. There's a difference between a plant and mixing a bunch of chemicals together with the sole purpose of altering physical functions.

If the law states the possessing or smoking of pot is illegal, the whole "everything God made is good" argument goes right out the window.
Exactly true.

Well, here's what I see the Bible saying about this.

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

In a nutshell, smoking weed will go against God's commands to be in submission to authorities. You're breaking the law. That's bad.

Now, there's nothing wrong with weed in and of itself. I support the legalization of it. Just because I believe that doesn't give me a pass to do it. It'd be OK when/if it's legal.

When/if it's legal you must use in moderation. Like Alcohol. Don't use it to get baked, you can use it to enjoy it (that's why God gave it to us), don't ABUSE it.

Sounds like a healthy attitude about it... props on being open to the Lord's correction... and I hear you about Texas... I went to the Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels quite a few times back in the day to compete in a contest on their flowrider.... I remember how hard it was to get weed and once we got it that it was pretty shwaggy... haha...

Blessings buddy...

Now just a note about submission to authorities... That's only true as long as the authority doesn't violate God's higher authority.

If the authorities decide to mandate cursing of the Lord's name before you can board the bus (I'm just making an extreme example)... That violates the authority of the one who gave the authority...
That law would be legitimate to oppose.

It also does not mean you can't disagree with stuff. I can disagree with weed being illegal, I can work for the legalization of it. But I'm doing so inside the parameters established and I'm still honoring the law until the law changes.

Right on Devon... keep us posted on where the Lord leads you... and any personal revelation He might bring you about the subject...

The one thing I would encourage you in is you don't put yourself in a position where you could get rolled by the cops or something for it... weed aint worth getting locked in a cage over...

Blessing buddy...

When a joint is to my mouth I am smoking it and surely not possessing it because it is not mine, and I render the respect to the authorties of not smoking it in places that they wouldnt want me to be doing it.

@Robbie; Ive been to jail 6 times for marijuana trust me that wont happen I render respect to the authorities now.
