You did not answer my post. The main problem I have with the OSAS people, is that they say they are always saved even if we live a life that is not pleasing to God, it is impossible to backslide despite the warnings, and they seem to have forgotten it is necessary to persevere to the end of their days.
Otherwise, provided we live a life that is right with God, we bring honour and glory to His name, and we heed the warnings about the five foolish virgins I believe in the faithfulness of God unto salvation.
.
My question was not for you to answer it by placing folks into two camps OSAS/NOSAS categories. I was asking of you a personal question if you did not realize it - concerning your spirit and the Spirit indwelt in those that is the true signature of a true believer.
This is not a subject of two buckets or two categories of people and then to conveniently embark on 'cutting down' one over the other as an impersonal subject at all. If any subject is personal in scripture, this is the one - salvation!
I believe by labelling the way you did as many people do this way is to avoid speaking about the real questions and answers or truth concerning salvation. What is salvation? Is it permanent or temporary in ones life? Is it knowable? Is it an idea or a personal reality? Do we decide salvation for ourselves or does God? Do we believe that God chooses a person for salvation, or is it a 50/50 deal where we use our will and allow God to give us salvation on our conditions, ; by put 'free' will?...and many other serious questions that need real answers...
So let me just ask you about what you have written here.
Who determines if we or someone is living a life pleasing or unpleasing to God? Is it from ourselves, our own opinions, with our own standards of conduct, morality and 'goodness?' What is the living standard for salvation?
And what does 'backsliding' mean in scripture? Does this mean loss of salvation, probation status, or salvation is kept intact?
And what does 'preserving' to 'the end' mean in scripture? How is this done? By our own efforts? By God's efforts? another 50/50 deal? Or by some other way?
Can you try and answer these questions at your convenience? It would be appreciated because you have answered me with statements that you are sure about, and I'm not that sure in what you say.
Blessings,
APAK
