One of the most vaccinated states, oregon is seeing a spike in Covid cases. It is said that 70% of the Oregon Population is Vaccinated, yet there is a spike in cases there. Fauci is speaking of booster shots being needed.... Compare this to Sweden, where a herd mentality approach was taken and where the number of cases now is negligible (see Link)

What the "experts" don't bother telling the general public, mainly because most people simply wouldn't understand, is that viral vaccinations amount to an evolutionary pressure upon the viruses being treated. They don't cause the viral mutations which are generally random and can occur either inside or outside a host but more likely occur inside during the replication process (mutations outside would only be caused as spot mutations powered by ionizing radiation.)
Mutant strains which occur inside the host may contain recombinant portions of host DNA that significantly alter the viral proteins, sometimes changing the surface protein markers recognized by the hosts antibodies and making the mutated version resistant (at least temporarily).
While I don't believe evolutionary theory can explain the origin of life, the genetic mechanisms for replication and the causes of mutations are well understood and can be duplicated in a laboratory.
Mutations survive if they don't interfere significantly with the organisms physiology and reproduction. They become dominant if they improve the organism's survivability, however most lead to physiological disruptions and cell death.
Viruses are a special case in that they hijack cell physiology to make the host replicate the virus. Cell death is the norm, not the exception. The cell only has to live long enough to replicate the virus.
Since vaccination strengthens the immune response to a single organism, it acts as an evolutionary pressure against that same organism increasing the likelihood of more potent strains. The hope of the medical experts is to interrupt the spread of the virus enough to break this viral evolutionary process that generates new strains, but the more potent viral mutations that survive the attack of the immune systems of the vaccinated are always going to be stronger than the original strain and a greater danger to the unvaccinated. Currently in the US, the majority of cases of serious or lethal illness is among the unvaccinated but every single survivor of an infection could potentially release a new variant.
