And how do you know this?
I don't find in the New Testament the word Sabbath being called the first day of the week.
Where in the Old Testament the seventh day is explicitely called the Sabbath.
Having said that,
I believe the Sabbath is a DAY that is made up of many generations. Like a Day is as a thousand years.
And the Hebrews were given the Sabbath as sign of what would come at the end of the generations.
A time when all the world will be quiet.
A time for the earth to enjoy her sabbaths.
I say her, because the bible says her.. i'm not a feminist.. just saying..
I was thinking this morning about who benefitted the most from the sabbath.
And I thought about the oxen and the bulls and maybe even camels, whatever they had for labour animals.
And at the end of 6 days they were put out to pasture to graze and to rest.
Because I believe God has mercy on all his creation.
I like pondering things, some call it meditating, I call it thinking..
And I try mostly to use my heart instead of my head.
I want to know what God was thinking and what He was feeling.
Because the more I know about His heart, the more mine can transition into something just like it.
Mercy, Forgiveness, Grace, right judgement, etc..
Why did God give man His Sabbath?
Not so much what we do with it, but why in the first place?
Because he loved us, and the world is cold and harsh and he knows this.
So he provided a santuary, a refuge, where we could come away from the cares of the world
and rest with him. And the animals too.
For God so loved the world.. that's His creation.. all 6 days of it.
That he gave His only begooten Son, (now metaphorically speaking I can see this Son, as the Day he created to rest in.
That God was IN Christ reconciling the world unto himself..
And this Day/Son is God's Day/Son which is the first and the last..
I suppose it depends on how deep one wants to dig into the mystery of the Kingdom of God.
Jesus explained the Kingdom of God in I don't know how many parables.
You can look at it from a lot of different angles.
But you always come up with the same results.
God is Love.
And everything He does comes from Love.
And everything He gives comes from Love.
And all He asks for is Love in return.
Is that too much to ask for?
Maybe, the world has a hard time putting away their weapons and finding peace at the table.
The love of many shall wax cold.
Only thing will melt it is the fire of God.
just thinking..
