Philippians 2:5-11 KJV
5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

What was Jesus before becoming obedient? It seems to me there are only two options. Either "disobedient", and I do not consider that to be an acceptable answer, or, the only other option, He was Sovereign.

Either you give the orders or you follow the orders.

Much love!

This passage has nothing to do with obedience or disobedience. The focus of this passage, is death on the cross. He became a man and stayed obedient to the death that He and teh Father decided in eternity past.

Mostly I'm pointing out that there was a "before" He became a man, and that how Jesus was before His incarnation was not the same as in His incarnation.

But then again, the passage IS about obedience, I think. Let this mind be in you. Just like Christ was Sovereign over the universe, but submitted in obedience to the Father, even to the point of this horrible death, so we are to be obedient, humble, a servant.

Much love!

What that is saying sir is that Jesus willingly humbled himself by accepting to become a man, a lesser being than what he was, and remained sinless through his entire human life, thus settling any issue that man was a defective creation as some have charged.

It is appointed unto man once to die.
This is the law and Jesus was obedient to it.
He didn't have to choose to live a life as a man.
He could of manifested himself as fire and brimstone, a flood, or any other means of destuction to a world filled with sinners.
He could have come in wrath, instead he came in mercy.
And by subjecting himself to a human life, became subjected to death itself.
For us.

These my thoughts..

He was One like unto Moses. Moses interceded when God said He would destroy Israel.

Good thoughts!!
