You're not sure about being perfect? But isn't that what Jesus told us we must be? Is it all that difficult not to sin?
Also Bob, have you sold all your possessions and gave the money to the poor to follow Jesus?

Is that one of the Ten Commandments?
You appear to be stuck on being perfect in this life. What did Jesus also teach? He taught us about what is necessary to go to heaven. And those that didn't go to heaven went to the lake of fire. And he taught us how to become perfect. Please read the following scripture so you are well versed in these matters:

Matthew 19:21-23

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The Sheep and the Goats
Matthew 25:31-46

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I'm not going to be perfect? Jesus commanded me to be perfect. Are you telling us that we can disobey Jesus?
little kids are perfect just like they are though, huh

ppl thinking they might go to heaven after they have died are surely strange doctrine bob, and it warps the whole paradigm, as might be seen. Yah did not need any blood sacrifice to make you ok to Him, but admitting this is tantamount to losing everything you know, huh? Going from Esau to Jacob is hard

Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins
so bob, is there currently any forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood?

this isnt making much sense bc i keep having to erase what i really want to say to you…but maybe find the verse where Yah says that He needs a Sacrifice? Or even that He was pleased with His Perfect Sacrifice? Just one v. Anyway best wishes to you either way ok

I'm not going to be perfect Bob. I'm not delusional either. I do my part as I reported in post #46. I will direct you to that post to study it for the heading of perfection.

No, there aren't 613 commandments. There are ordinances, statutes, decrees, etc. Not everything God said was a commandment:

You know the commandments: `Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.'" Luke 18:2 RSV

The exact number is not important.....what is important is that one realizes that he can’t keep The Law and one needs a Savior.....the purpose of the Law was to “ take you by the hand” and lead you to Christ....when you do that you will get the Holy Spirit in you and you will “ find yourself” doing the things that please God without trying near as hard....

What is “ impossible” is trying to merit Heaven by one’s “ Commandment- Keeping” Performance......Two things save us—— Christ’s Blood and Your Faith....
What does God want from a man? Is it not for each man to do God's will?

If a man fails to do things according to God's will using what God has given the man to work with to accomplish God's will... what would the man's reward or punishment be?

"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:48

Has not God, under what many call the 'new covenant', made available to men more and better tools than under any old covenant?

What example did Jesus provide for us?

"And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." Matt 26:39

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." Rom 12:1

Give God the glory!

I am reminded of the parable of the tax collector and Pharisee. One who confesses they're a sinner and is more justified. So I wouldn't go thinking your perfect. Truth is only Jesus was perfect. I doubt any of us will reach perfection. But you can try.
Can try...or must try, because we love God and that is what He wants from us? If the task is too much for us alone [which it certainly is!] will He not then take up the slack? But first, we must give it our all!

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service" Rom 12:1

Jesus said, “You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48 RSV). Wasn't he telling the truth?

I'm always hearing that we are all sinners. We all know that. I'm waiting for someone to explain to me why we can't stop sinning.
Because we do not lean heavily enough on Him and also... because there are some things we do not really want to give up... not even for Him!

Anybody that thinks they are “ good enough” to go to Heaven is damned.

I usually don't ask this question, but can you quote me chapter and verse?
Try this...

"Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 18:10-14

Here’s why—- “ The Spirit is willing, But The Flesh is weak”
Too weak to do it alone, but not too weak to ask God for help which when the request is according to His will, He will not refuse!

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." Matt 7:7-8

"Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts." James 4:2-4

Jesus said we had to be perfect. He didn't say wait till the next life.
