I'm not going to be perfect Bob. I'm not delusional either. I do my part as I reported in post #46. I will direct you to that post to study it for the heading of perfection.
You're not going to be perfect? Jesus told you to be perfect.

The exact number is not important.....what is important is that one realizes that he can’t keep The Law and one needs a Savior.....the purpose of the Law was to “ take you by the hand” and lead you to Christ....when you do that you will get the Holy Spirit in you and you will “ find yourself” doing the things that please God without trying near as hard....
No, the exact number isn’t important. We are each on an individual walk with the Lord. He will show each of us individually what we need to know:

But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jeremiah 31:33 RSV

Try this...

"Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 18:10-14
If a man repents of his sin, why would he find the gate to heaven locked?

Why indeed? Jesus became a Way where there was no way, but a person who is not properly prepared will not be allowed to enter in...

"And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
For many are called, but few are chosen." Matt 22:12-14

The Lord wants everyone to go to heaven. He just doesn't want us hurting each other - or him.

Amen! Today is the day and now is the time!

Let me talk with your Wife for five minutes —- we’ll see just how “ Perfect” you are......You ever hear of “ SINS of OMISSION ? I’d wager that you had your fill of food today while there are people in your area going hungry tonight.....You probably sat around watching television when you could have been helping out at the local food kitchen.....that is a very Sinful thing to do, Mr. “Perfect”.....

If people could obtain Perfection, Jesus suffered on a Cross for no reason....
By the power of the Holy Spirit what is impossible?

But then also, what is perfection? What is completion? What is that God expects or desires for each of us to accomplish?

"And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27

We are not expected to overcome the world all alone. But... who but an overcomer may eat of the Tree of Life?

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." Rev 2:7

I usually don't ask this question, but can you quote me chapter and verse?

Paul lamented at the end of Galatians that his Jewish brothers were LOST ( damned) because instead of relying on the Goodness Of Christ and His Blood Sacrifice for Sins.....they were relying upon their “Own” Goodness....they attributed that delusional “ goodness” to themselves because they thought that they were perfect—- they thought that they had “ kept the Law”..... it’s the same self- deception , the same self- Righteousness and the same False Pride that you see displayed in many of the posts here everyday...

I have never said that I was perfect... nor have I ever believed it... not in the sense that you mean.

Perhaps you should learn what God considers perfection [completion] to be in the Bible itself rather than presuming that some definition of carnal men is applicable.

I said that through the power of God anything is possible. Does God never work in men? Do you doubt God, or would you call Jesus a liar?

Consider what Jesus said here:

"Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me." John 21:20-22

As to my wife, she is a semi-invalid and not improving but we are striving to make it 50 years this June. I am her primary caregiver, but my own flesh is failing so sometimes I cannot do all that needs to be done, not alone in myself. Not very perfect?

As to helping in any food kitchen, if I had to stand to work for as long as half an hour at a time I would likely collapse in exhaustion on the floor where I stood.

You don't understand. When we sin we bring trouble into our lives. Example: When you rob a bank, you go to prison.

Therefore, God taught us not to sin. He was doing us a favor.

The reason is because NOWHERE in the KJV does it say one is Saved by “ repenting of his sins”.....One becomes Saved the instant that they Believe the Gospel Found In 1 Cor15 :1-4...

If one doesn’t Believe the Gospel , He needs to “ Change his mind” ( The TRUE “ Repentance” That Saves) about the Gospel and start Trusting in it Alone to Save Him....He has performed the only Repentance that he needs to concern himself with in regard to Salvation....They type Of Repentance That you speak of , the remorse for Sin and the attempt to do better, will be something that occurs in the life of a Christian practically every day....TURN to GOD FIRST with Faith in His Son ....THEN “ turn from sin” .....only a Christian—- That man that Trusts in the Gospel To Save Him—- Only HE has the Indwelling Holy Spirit within him that gives him a “ chance” to put away Sin.....” what sin that does not get conquered is covered by Grace—- “under the Blood”, as they say.....

I * DO* understand——- you are preaching to the choir....we should all try to stop sinning....of course it brings trouble into our lives ......of course God is trying to help us out......my point is that we are not saved by “ Stopping” our sinful ways ....stopping our sin or stopping anything else is not what Saves a person .....We are not Saved by “ stopping”.....we are Saved by Believing......Believe the Gospel —- THAT is the Formula for Salvation....

I never said repentance saves us. I say sin gets us into trouble so we shouldn't do it. When the Lord says to repent, he means it. When he says we need to be perfect as God is perfect, he means it. Otherwise we'll keep getting into trouble.

Yep. Someone took a profile pic of me at the church lunch last Sabbath. Wasn't particularly flattering.
I hear you well. My wife helped me recently by buying some healthy snacks and drinks to replace the junk I was consuming. I actually have lost a few pounds. Most physical exercise is out of bounds for me so seeing a little bit drop off has given me hope.
