Forgive my ignorance, is the State influencing the Church?

The State can influence..the Church.

In many countries, the state restricts/persecute the church..nowadays.

Also, when the state has..a 'state/national church'..
- it can have a negative impact on..'other churches'.
- still going on..in some countries.

Perhaps your thoughts are applicable to the UK, but here in the US we have the guarantee of the freedom of religion.

We do in theory, but do we really in practice?

- When Theodosius I (emperor) made Christianity the 'state religion' in 380.

Article not working, but going by the headline this is unfortunately what can happen when certain bills get put into parliament, unfortunately some get offended by the Bible and that's what happens when things like the interfaith movement gets pushed.
