Some of you have expressed dislike of the NIV. I use it mainly for comparisons. I would like to hear your reasons for your dislike. Thanks.

From your link...

Why does Matthew 17:21 exist only as a footnote in the King James Bible and not as a verse?

It DOES "exist as a Verse"...It's Matthew 17:21.

Not sure of your point.

Look up Matthew 17:21 in your NIV. :)

Or Matthew 18:11, Mark 7:16, Mark 11:26 And there are more.

And I am not sure of your point . Thank you.

Here is from my NIV:

[sup]20[/sup] He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” [sup][21][/sup] [sup][a][/sup]

[sup][21][/sup] [sup][a] [/sup]Some manuscripts include here words similar to Mark 9:29.

I use the NIV on a regular basis. Easy to read in contemporary English , fairly accurate , and footnotes always clearly list variations between translations.

I will also add that the Chineese language translation is the most popular one nowadays . The KJV folks don't like that , but I don't really care. I expect the Lord does not mind either.

My point is the NIV leaves out several verses. I'm not sure what "the KJV folks" are, however, I use several translations.

Hi Gypsy , I agree , Personally I have 14 translations here if I am doing an important study. As far as "KJV folks" they are the group who feel KJV is the only "Word of God" to the exclusion of all other translations.

I had both the NIV and the RSV, and threw them both in the trash. I will stay with the Greek and Hebrew, my KJV and Strong's.
