I'm staying with family for a couple weeks and there is a guy that just keeps breaking in and leaving.

And this is the second time he broke in while I was here alone with my youngest, except this time I didn't notice it until they let me know the door was totally messed up. He isn't taking anything, so I don't understand what the heck he is doing.

Bad part: It's HIS old apartment that I'm taking over that he's being evicted from so I'm really getting nervous about moving in.

I'd rather he just be totally gone so I don't need to worry about it.

Landlords will be here and see it tomorrow.

I s'pose America being the land of the brave and the free means he is free to break in when he wants....even be brave about it?

I am really sorry for your circumstances.

Place your concerns before the Lord God and ask for His protection.

May the Lord's place His army of protective angels around you so that the guy can see them and sense that he needs to fear them and move on and leave your new community.

May you also be able to see God's protective army so that your confidence in the Power of the Lord is strengthened.

Shalom

M'lady, I'm praying that God will protect you, your family, and the family you're staying with. And perhaps heal what sounds like a disturbed individual? At the very least, call him to repentance.

We have our share of nut-cases, yes. And we have some other countries' shares of nut-cases too. There's a reason why I have a loaded 9mm in a biometric safe by my bed, and a permit to carry it concealed, as does my wife. That may not be a good solution for a single mom with two young children. I would recommend M'lady keep a canister of pepper spray on her person at all times and practice accessing it and deploying it on short notice.

It might be a good idea for the local Sherriff to have a heart-to-heart conversation with this young man and point out the error of his ways.

This is confusing.
Sounds like, he broke into your friends apt. TWICE, While you were there...
But that was not the apt. Some man was a former tenant in that apt.

It doesn’t matter, that he “took” nothing. What does matter is, he is capable of breaching a locked door, (and has some known creepy history with that apt complex) that made you feel secure, and didn’t.....and frankly....very little the apt management or police or apt occupants can do to PREVENT such acts.
Individuals can only take precautions to REACT defensively if such an occurrence happens.

People are unpredictable. Why he is breaking into an apt he did not occupy can be for umpteen numerous reasons. The creepiest of which is installing hidden cameras to remotely spy on the occupants of that apt.

Agreeing to occupy an apt with a known history of unresolved break-ins....is your choice. Wishing he would be gone, is not likely.
Be wise in your choice. If you decide to rent there....( like anywhere ), become familiar with your surroundings, cautious of what is odd, and prepared with defense for any unsuspected circumstance, and teach and instill the same in your child.

God Bless,

Perhaps she should have the locks changed. They don't always do that and sometimes people keep keys to their old apartment, especially if they're facing homelessness.

The SOB is sending the Fiery and Lacy Lady a message in an attempt to intimidate her. This is where she needs to call up the fire of courage.

But since you mentioned it, I would recommend having the landlord of the new place change the locks, and scouring the place for hidden cameras, drug and porn stashes, and other "messages".

They plan on changing the locks but if he is forcing his way through even in an apartment that ISN'T his (and the door was locked) I think he'll force his way in.

If he breaks into mine I think I will suggest a fake or a real camera by my door, because there are only cameras by the entrances.

And I'm pretty sure he is on drugs.

My mom has an air horn and some bear spray. Lol I may get something, probably not a gun with the kids here. I thought about cast iron skillet. I need one for cooking and I wouldn't want one thrown at me.
I was thinking Louisville Slugger. You could also teach your son how to play baseball. :p

Bear spray is an excellent idea. Some of the respected self-defense experts like Ellifritz also recommend it.

Let the police know and get a description of him from the landlords
We know who he is and it's not my apartment, so I don't want to overstep on what they're doing, but if I catch him in mine, I absolutely will.

And the station is across the street so I can feel safe about that, too.

Doesn’t make sense but okay. Do whatever you feel is best. I would let the police know if it was myself doesn’t make a damn if I have a description of him or not. Someone breaking into the house, people can kill you.

God bless, stay safe.

Yeah, dying is always on the cards.... any beat of the heart. The more I factor that in the less I stress.
