Paul taught us to pray constantly (1 Thessalonians 5:17). I wonder how many even spend five minutes a day praying. How many realize praying involves listening, as well as communicating our thoughts to the Lord?

Hi Bob,
This verse always USED to throw me. But, after walking with Jesus long enough, He will put in your heart and mind many things and people to pray for. Just driving or walking down the street you can see many people who are lost in many ways and, even a 10 second prayer for those persons are still considered prayer...doesn't have to be a marathon being on your knees "constantly" as, that is not even possible. Prayers for family, friends, neighbors, strangers, pastors, church's on and on and on...JMO bro.

We never know when the Lord is going to have something to say to us, so we need to always be listening. "Noah walked with God" (Genesis 6:9). It's like always having a friend with you.

@Nancy The idea of praying without ceasing (1 Thess. 5) reminds me of the believer crying 'Abba, Father' (Romans 8); I think the idea is a constant attitude of prayer.

Thanks, me too! But the jury is still out on that one. Too many people posting strident, unbending views, seasoned with a dose of intolerance and condescension for opposing views.
You are absolutely correct (wheat and tares MUST grow together) I have "lurked" on a few other Christian sites and found the same ole same ole. If you can find a bible believing, everyone gets along site, I'd have to question the site...? Kind of like, If you find the "perfect" church, don't go there because it will no longer be perfect." (unknown)
There are some wonderful folk on here...give it a chance?

But there are some encouraging threads as well. Just harder to find them.
