I was not aware of this. Nonetheless, the point is well taken, regardless of who said it originally. Remember the context. We are speaking about ownership of guns in the context of a free people, and the God-given right to bear arms. Our Second Amendment is intended to protect the individual person from tyranny. Because Americans are well armed and because they have demonstrated their resolve to use these arms against their own government when necessary, our government fears the people.
The clear purpose of the Second Amendment is the security of a free state. It is a distortion to claim that is intended to protect the individual person from tyranny.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
"We have not found any evidence that Thomas Jefferson said or wrote, "When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny," nor any evidence that he wrote its listed variations." Source: Monticello.org That is simply another lie that clearly shows that you and others never do any research. You just accept whatever lie "proves" your predetermined "truth".
