Never believe me, just sharing. God bless all people here on the forums and be encouraged to study, and think about the word and seek for truth.

May this encourage you to do your own studies, for yourself and learn about God and context, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and also the principles we can gain from learning from it.

@MatthewG what gift or gifts of the spirit do you have ?

Thank you !

There are actually three biblical lists of the “gifts of the Spirit,” also known as spiritual gifts. The three main passages describing the spiritual gifts are Romans 12:6–8; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11; and 1 Corinthians 12:28. We could also include Ephesians 4:11, but that is a list of offices within the church, not spiritual gifts, per se. The spiritual gifts identified in Romans 12 are prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leadership, and mercy. The list in 1 Corinthians 12:4–11 includes the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, distinguishing between spirits, speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues. The list in 1 Corinthians 12:28 includes healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. A brief description of each gift follows:

Prophecy – The Greek word translated “prophecy” in both passages properly means “a speaking forth.” According to Thayer’s Greek Lexicon, the word refers to “discourse emanating from divine inspiration and declaring the purposes of God, whether by reproving and admonishing the wicked, or comforting the afflicted, or revealing things hidden; especially by foretelling future events.” To prophesy is to declare the divine will, to interpret the purposes of God, or to make known in any way the truth of God that is designed to influence people.

Serving – Also referred to as “ministering,” the Greek word diakonian, from which we get the English “deacon,” means service of any kind, the broad application of practical help to those in need.

Teaching – This gift involves the analysis and proclamation of the Word of God, explaining the meaning, context and application to the hearer’s life. The gifted teacher is one who has the unique ability to clearly instruct and communicate knowledge, specifically the doctrines of the faith.

Encouraging – Also called “exhortation,” this gift is evident in those who consistently call upon others to heed and follow God’s truth, which may involve correction or building others up by strengthening weak faith or comforting in trials.

Giving – Gifted givers are those who joyfully share what they have with others, whether it is financial, material, or the giving of personal time and attention. The giver is concerned for the needs of others and seeks opportunities to share goods, money, and time with them as needs arise.

Leadership – The gifted leader is one who rules, presides over, or has the management of other people in the church. The word literally means “guide” and carries with it the idea of one who steers a ship. One with the gift of leadership rules with wisdom and grace and exhibits the fruit of the Spirit in his life as he leads by example.

Mercy – Closely linked with the gift of encouragement, the gift of mercy is obvious in those who are compassionate toward others who are in distress, showing sympathy and sensitivity coupled with a desire and the resources to lessen their suffering in a kind and cheerful manner.

Word of wisdom – The fact that this gift is described as the “word” of wisdom indicates that it is one of the speaking gifts. This gift describes someone who can understand and speak forth biblical truth in such a way as to skillfully apply it to life situations with all discernment.

Word of knowledge – This is another speaking gift that involves understanding truth with an insight that only comes by revelation from God. Those with the gift of knowledge understand the deep things of God and the mysteries of His Word.

Faith – All believers possess faith in some measure because it is one of the gifts of the Spirit bestowed on all who come to Christ in faith (Galatians 5:22-23). The spiritual gift of faith is exhibited by one with a strong and unshakeable confidence in God, His Word, His promises, and the power of prayer to effect miracles.

Healing – Although God does still heal today, the ability of men to produce miraculous healings belonged to the apostles of the first century church to affirm that their message was from God. Christians today do not have the power to heal the sick or resurrect the dead. If they did, the hospitals and morgues would be full of these “gifted” people emptying beds and coffins everywhere.

Miraculous powers – Also known as the working of miracles, this is another temporary sign gift which involved performing supernatural events that could only be attributed to the power of God (Acts 2:22). This gift was exhibited by Paul (Acts 19:11-12), Peter (Acts 3:6), Stephen (Acts 6:8), and Phillip (Acts 8:6-7), among others.

Distinguishing (discerning) of spirits – Certain individuals possess the unique ability to determine the true message of God from that of the deceiver, Satan, whose methods include purveying deceptive and erroneous doctrine. Jesus said many would come in His name and would deceive many (Matthew 24:4-5), but the gift of discerning spirits is given to the Church to protect it from such as these.

Speaking in tongues – The gift of tongues is one of the temporary “sign gifts” given to the early Church to enable the gospel to be preached throughout the world to all nations and in all known languages. It involved the divine ability to speak in languages previously unknown to the speaker. This gift authenticated the message of the gospel and those who preached it as coming from God. The phrase “diversity of tongues” (KJV) or “different kinds of tongues” (NIV) effectively eliminates the idea of a “personal prayer language” as a spiritual gift.

Interpretation of tongues – A person with the gift of interpreting tongues could understand what a tongues-speaker was saying even though he did not know the language that was being spoken. The tongues interpreter would then communicate the message of the tongues speaker to everyone else, so all could understand.

Helps – Closely related to the gift of mercy is the gift of helps. Those with the gift of helps are those who can aid or render assistance to others in the church with compassion and grace. This has a broad range of possibilities for application. Most importantly, this is the unique ability to identify those who are struggling with doubt, fears, and other spiritual battles; to move toward those in spiritual need with a kind word, an understanding and compassionate demeanor; and to speak scriptural truth that is both convicting and loving. Is there a biblical spiritual gifts list? | GotQuestions.org

hope this helps !!!

Studying the bible without the guidance of the Holy Spirit is probably pointless as the conclusions reached may be human rather than spiritual.

The OP is stuck in : 70AD.
He teaches that Jesus came then, and took the Bride.
I pointed out to him about 10 times that John was still here, (left behind apparently) and would later write the "Revelation".
So, the OPs theology crashed and burned, and he can't even defend it.
He also teaches that there is no final judgment for Christ rejectors.
Typically this is what we call a "no heller"......or a Universalist.

Pearl why do you believe the Holy Spirit is needed for those who study? Would you also consider that history, and understanding context would be needed too?

I believe the Holy Spirit is necessary in every part of our Christian life and especially so in interpreting God's word. Without his guidance what do we have, even with all the knowledge and research? Just man's interpretation; and there is too much of that in the Church and it causes dissent and damage to the unity.

Do you not think that we need the Holy Spirit to guide us as we read or study God's word?

Do you believe we need to love others who have different opinions than you personally?

And we are to love those who hate us., and do good to them.

But, that is not the context we find on a Forum, when dealing with people who claim to be Christians, who do despite to the Spirit of Grace and harm other real believers., with their theological lies.

Let me help you with your understanding about this..
In Titus 3, Paul says that a teacher like me, an evangelist, is to give a heretic, 2-3 times, to get their heresy resolved and come back to truth.
Now, that is in a local body (church)....for the most part.
So, if the heretic can't resolve or wont resolve their heresy... then what a Pastor does, is shows them the door, and they lock it behind them.
See, You dont let spiritual wolves have access to the Sheep.
You dont let heretics have access to the Congregation, as they will cause STRIFE AND CHAOS .. as you see them causing on this Forum.

So, as this is a forum, and its governed by Mods, who themselves are whatever they are, theologically, and who knows as this is nowhere found here so that you can know what they individually believe........then, it becomes a real issue on a FORUM as you have the tares and the sheep butting heads all the time.
The only resolution, is to call out the deceivers, highlight them, for the protection of the real believers.
And Matthewg, when it happens to you, it wont feel like "love".
You've noticed.

All of the above, with the Holy Spirit’s guidance being the most important.

The Holy Spirit would never lead a Son of God to teach on a Christian forum that there is no judgment for Christ rejectors, and there is no Hell for them.
So, whatever spirit is leading you to teach all this, is not that ONE.
Believe it.

Quite, but then we aren't all able to get a grasp on the historic significance and not all will understand the context. But it is possible for a lesser intellect to interpret God's word just by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

God wants us all to be able to understand his word and will not withhold his teaching and guidance from those of us who aren't clever enough to compare ancients manuscripts in different languages. Whatever translation of the bible one has God's Holy Spirit is able to give understanding of the written word by his Spirit if we genuinely seek it.

Excellent! I could be wrong, but it seems to me to be a great waste of one's life to
become a "trained" expert theologian who Disagrees with others who are also of the
same profession.

God Preserved His Holy Word for me, in my own language, and when I heard and
believed His Truth, I Was Also Given "The [Indwelling] Blessed Teacher, The Holy
Spirit," to Help me study, comparing spiritual with spiritual, according to these
these Bible study Rules.

I have found that "The Simplicity Of Christ" is Far Better Than man's Complicated Complexities of "textual criticism of multiplied UNpreserved/Confusing translations, foreign language scholarship, hermeneutics, disagreeing writings of 'church' fathers, history, culture, experiences, etc. etc. etc."

Thus The Preserved Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided, is "my own personal" Authority
From God, For my faith and practice, and for what I personally "Will Give an Account"
Unto The Righteous Judge, Jesus Christ, "In That Day" (1 Corinthians 3:8-15).

Others may freely choose whatever is authoritatively "right for themselves."

Thanks for listening. See you in God’s Great GloryLand! ♫ :) ↑

GRACE And Peace...

There are no conflicts between James and Paul on the matter of justification by faith. James could not be contradicting Paul's letters in Romans or Galatians for they had not yet been written! Paul explains that sinners are justified by faith in chapters 3 & 4. James explains that a person's faith is dead unless it is proved by works. We are not saved by works, but the faith that saves us leads to good works. Paul wrote about our standing before God, James wrote about our witness before the world. James wrote to Jewish believers who still worshiped in the Synagogue while Paul wrote to the Gentiles.

Lets compare the inspired book of James with the gospels and see if James stacks up with the teachings of Jesus. In Matthew 5:3 and Luke 6:20 we have the Beatitudes: Blessed are the poor (in spirit) for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Luke 6:24 adds woe to the rich. Compare this with James' language Let the believer who is lowly boast in being raised up, and the rich in being brought low, because the rich will disappear like a flower in the field. James 1:9-10 Has not God chosen the poor in the world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him? James 2:5 Come now, you rich people, weep and wail for the miseries that are coming to you. James 5:1 In Luke 1:52-53 is also an example of the message of the reverse that James mirrors. The lowly are lifted up; the rich are sent away empty, just like in James 1:9-10. In the Gospels and in James the promise is for the future, but for the present times as well. The believer can boast today in 1:9, the rich should weep and wail now in 5:1. The promises of theses verses are a comfort for the persecution the Christian community is experiencing. Matthew 5:10 offers a blessing for the persecuted, as does Luke 6:11-12. Luke 6:22-23 goes on to offer blessing when we are hated, excluded, reviled and defamed. In a similar way James 1:2-4 calls the community to joy when facing trials. James 1:12 offers blessings and the crown of life to those who endure temptation. And James 5:10 calls all who show endurance = blessed. Matthew and Luke each have additional beatitudes that are found in James. Matthew 5:9 says that peacemakers will be called the children of God and James 3:18 offers a harvest of righteousness for those who make peace. Luke 6:21 and 6:25 promises that the hungry will be filled, those who weep will laugh, the full will be hungry and those who laugh will mourn. Believers are exhorted to lament and mourn and weep, and to let laughter turn into mourning in James 4:9. James 4:6 is a similar reversal; God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. James uses additional teachings from the Sermon on the Mount. Luke 6:27 and James 2:8 repeat the Levitical law to love our neighbors as ourselves. Matthew 5:17-19 insists that the law and prophets are not abolished, while James 2:8-11 insists that breaking any one law is breaking the whole of the law. James 1:25 says that those who not only hear, but also DO the law will be blessed. In Matthew 5:21-22 it is not enough to avoid murder, even those who are angry are subject to judgment. James 1:19-20 says we must be slow to anger, for anger does not produce God's righteousness. As we can clearly see James and the teachings of Christ were almost identical and this would be natural since James was the brother and disciple of Jesus.

There is no conflict between the teachings of Paul and James. Genuine faith will produce fruit in the life of the believer as Jesus taught. James calls this fruit works in his epistle. In fact all the apostles taught that true faith produces works. In Ephesians 2:8-10 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." This passage puts faith and works in their proper order. It is faith alone that connects us with the free salvation offered in Jesus Christ. This salvation is a gift. Our works have nothing to do with it and cannot add to the salvation found in Jesus Christ. Works will follow after salvation and are the product of it and are created by God in the believer. These passages verify this truth as well- Titus 3:4-8; Hebrews 6:9; 10:39; 1 John 3:6;3 John 11.

Paul is stressing the root of justification (faith) and James is stressing the fruit of justification (works). James teaches that works are the proof of faith. This is indicated by the fact that James stressed that we should show our faith in 2:18. It must be something that can be seen by others in 'works' in 18-20. James acknowledged that Abraham was justified before God by faith, not works, when he said, 'Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness

When Paul speaks about someone being justified he has in view God's declaration that a sinner is righteous. When James uses that same word he has in view the demonstration of a person's previously justified state. A person demonstrates by his obedience what God has already declared about him (James 2:23 when quoting Genesis 15:6)Looking at it another way James is using the word justify with the meaning "to demonstrate or show to be righteous or to vindicate oneself." This meaning for the Greek word is also found in Luke 7:35, 10:28-29, 16:15 and, Matthew 11:19, and in Romans 3:4. In Luke 16:15, Jesus says to the Pharisees, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts." Similarly, we read in Luke 10:29, "But he wanted to justify himself." James is saying that one can demonstrate before men that one has been declared righteous by God. One can demonstrate this by doing good works, just as Abraham did by sacrificing his son Isaac (2:21; cf. Gen. 22:9-12) long after God had declared him righteous. James says that this later "work" demonstrated God's declaration in Genesis 15:6 to be true and fulfilled (James 2:23). If you cannot understand the different ways in which Paul and James are using justification and faith then you are unteachable. They are looking at it from two different perspectives; one being from Gods vantage point (Paul) and the other from mans (James).

hope this helps !!!

Absolutely right @GRACE ambassador . Jesus didn't make things difficult he preached a simple message in a way that all those who are his can understand without the need for 'clever' interpreters. The Holy Spirit is the only guide to the scriptures that we need.

And I will also say that we should take everything we are taught verbally by priests and preachers and discern the truth of it through the Spirit.

That is right Pearl.

Even listening to me on these videos, there are times what I can say may be wrong. Test all things and hold fast to what is good. When I do teach I try to be lead by the spirit and let it lead. It something people resonate to - when hearing spiritual things from another in which leads to looking to God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe personally, you can see a persons intention by what they say though it is good to discern and not to be deceived by anyone who try’s to lead a person away from Christ, and make it about themselves totally, or start making religious demands on another individual.

Where the spirit of the Lord there is freedom and Jesus came to set us free from the bondage of religion, also of sin and death.
