Stay in God's Word as written. That is always what it comes down to.
One of the false prophet's methods is pulling a single verse out of God's written Word and applying meanings to it that are outside the flow and subject of the Bible Chapter.
One of the saddest workings today in some pulpits is just that, using a single verse to push a leaven doctrine from men.
Is it not OK to teach single verses about a certain Bible topic?
Yeah, it is OK IF... it keeps with the subject flow of the Bible Chapter where it appears. How you gonna' know whether the one teaching is doing that or not?
Simple, read and study the whole Chapter where the verse appears. After staying in the 'flow' of the Chapter, you'll know soon enough if the teacher is sticking to the Bible Chapter or instead pushing some made up dissertation they 'think' Jesus gave them authority to create out of thin air.
