About 8 years ago I was sitting in a chair when the spirit sent waves of spiritual down on me like water. Is that baptized with the spirit?

Do you believe that you can lose your Salvaiton?
If you believe that, and the Holy Spirit does not....then there is your answer regarding your "experience".

You are welcome to the "ignore".
Yet, im the one person here who understands your Question.
So, i'll take the time to be nice to you., and do remember what i told you in the previous post.
If you're that one, then you have some work left to do, regarding your Faith.

Start here, Devin : Hebrews 13:9

Read on.

My call, God's anointing for service, (evangelist-teacher) since 1991, didnt happen when i was first born again.
It happened to me, in my living room.
And at that time i was 7 yrs saved, and not doing anything for God.
I was not interested.
"dead faith".... total.
I was making money and playing music and i had a business, and was just doing what i wanted.
Life was good., as i chased nothing that matters.
So, that 7th year after im born again i had an experience that was not invited.
I was not praying, and my bible was unopened for 7 yrs..
IN came God, the Holy Spirit.
That was my "call", happening. And after this day, all sorts of signs and supernatural experiences happened to me, and have continued, but not with the scary frequency of that first 2 yrs, following the Call.

Here is what i can tell anyone who God calls.
He will make it personal to you., as it not for your mother or your pastor.
Its for YOU..
And if God calls you, He will confirm it.......not you.
And "wanting to be someone important in church", is not the call of God on your life, reader.
If that is you, then keep waiting, as you are not ready.

God will confirm the "call" with confirmations., and it wont be a confusion.

He will call you, then He will enable the call.
This means you will be taken into situations so that you learn how..
You have to learn how, and God does that, with situations , as that is the "enabling for the ministry".
That can take a while., YEARS..... and its in this spiritual boot camp, that you are refined and equipped for the Ministry.
If God sends you someone like me, then you will become a really deep student of Paul's Theology, and that is the best thing that can happen to you.
If He sends you someone who tries to talk you out of Faith, and into trying not to lose your Salvation, then that is the Devil who has sent you that person.

Never think that a "ministry call" is ........ Start a Church, as you are now a Pastor.
That never happens., tho the call to be a Pastor, is the Call.

"Ministry" is the work of God through you... Ministry, .is not your ambition to be KNOWN as a "Spiritual Somebody".
IF you have a "Look at me", concept of "ministry" then you are DECEIVED.

Remember..... the Ministry, is GOD using you...not you doing what you think or need.

One more....

I have a younger brother. Robert.
He was a Manager for Hewlett Packard, and was making a lot of money....right out of College.
He was about 22.
One Sunday morning, He was in a church in Nashville, and that morning he was listening to a guest speaker. This speaker was a Missionary.
God called my brother in the PEW, during the sermon.
2 weeks alter, He is not working at HP< and gave up about $100,000 USD a year, and that was in the '90s.
Just walked away.......gave his "2 weeks notice"........and never looked back.
= 30 yrs later, he has built churches in the Ukraine, and until this situation there with PUTIN, has a street ministry, and a church.
He met his wife, Andrea, on the Mission field. They have 3 daughters., THE whole family is a "missionary".
If you have heard of "Mission to the World",?? He is the Missions Director for the denomination, and if you want, He can train you for the work of the Mission Field.
He has been "in the field" ever since the 1st year that God called him to be a missionary.

Who We Are - Mission to the World

I wouldn't like to answer that question but I did have a similar experience once so I know that the Holy Spirit can touch us like that.

One cold and wet evening I was coming home from work on a crowded bus. And I knew I wasn't alone and that Jesus was with me on that bus. I started to talk to him in my mind asking where he was; Was he sitting cent to me, was he standing near me? and then I started to tingle from my head down to my toes and knew he was telling me he was in me. I ended up with big smile on my face and the otherpassengers must have wondered what had made me smile like that.

I get a voice from above send down tingling in my body with messages from time to time. Usually when I'm at church or watching church on the internet or when I'm listening to Christian music or hymns. I recognize it as God.

Could be..:)
I had a similar experience as a teenager when I hopped on my bike one evening to buy some milk, and as I pedalled through the streets I was suddenly hit by a warm golden wave of love and beauty out of nowhere and I've never forgotten it.

I've had immense Love and Peace from the Holy Spirit on a couple occasions. It truly is heavenly.

Yes, all true Christians are cool, calm, fearless and self-assured because they realise our life on earth is just a fleeting thing, it shows in their eyes..:)

I'll be honest. I did a little research on baptism with the spirit and I know there are different ideas about it. So please feel free to share your experience.

I'll be honest. I did a little research on baptism with the spirit and I know there are different ideas about it. So please feel free to share your experience.

Well - long story slightly shortened -

I was Born again in 1963, in an upstairs bedroom in Houston TX, "led to the Lord" (as the baptists say) by a fellow who'd never cracked the Bible in his life and only remembered the fellow who'd led HIM to the lord the night before had said. However, I was under conviction of SIN by the Holy SPirit, and he could have probably read the phone book, and God would have gotten it done anyway. The fellow who led him to salvation was a Baptist, and so I went forward in the baptist church he went to, made my profession of faith, and was baptized that evening (which changed nothing - I was Born again going in the water, and just as born again coming out).

But, when I wen back home to Massachusetts, the Baptist were a different breed of cat. very formal, and lifeless - SO I jumped to the Assemblies of God church, where there were more signs of life. BUT I was SAVED, which meant that I already was indwelled by the Holy Spirit (which is what makes a person born again to begin with).

The AoG was into tongues, Interpretation, prophesy, healing, and all that good stiff, but I was still a displaced Baptist. But then in the late '60s the "Charismatic Outpouring" came along, and in 1972, I became part of that through the Full Gospel Business men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI). the Assemblies of God never had much to do with them because they weren't "clothesline Holy" enough. But I got prayed over to receive the "Baptism of the Holy SPirit" - and nothing happened for a while.

About three weeks later in another FGBMFI meeting, we were in the song service, and suddenly a strange word popped into my mind. SO I spoke it, and more strange words came into mind, and I was speaking a a "tongue" being supplied by the Holy Spirit. in my case there was no "feeling", "ecstatic experience", "emotion" whatever - just this strange language, which suddenly I could speak, and which flowed from outside myself. Now it's now 50 years later, and I still can speak in that language whenever I please. I've never been burdened to deliver a "MESSAGE IN TONGUES" in a meeting, but I have been burdened to Interpret tongues spoken by others, and to speak Prophesy very occasionally.

But the much more significant effect was that I was almost immediately moved into Small group Bible study leadership, which is something that would have been impossible for me to do - before. Every week, the Holy Spirit would "Load me" with what I was supposed to present to the meetings, and the next evening, I was able to teach for literally a couple of hours (Spiritual hunger was great in the '70s), and not run out of things to say. That went on for about 10 years, and then the "Charismatic outpouring" degenerated into the "Charismatic Movement", as the Holy Spirit lifted away as He does when a period of refreshing is over, and things got back to "church normal" again. I went back into the AoG denomination back in 19 80 or so, ans so did MANY CHarismatic folks, which altered the Denomination internally, from the Legalistic "one strike and you're OUT" type of church, to a gentler, and more loving type on group.

More recently. the Holy Spirit moved me to start a "Nursing home Bluegrass band", and led me through the process of organizing it, and provided all the resources to make it operate for about 7 years - ( The Highlanders Band on YouTube under bcarabbio).

Hence my question about "Practical results". When a person is baptized in the Holy Spirit (which is presented by Jesus as "Power for ministry"), the one would expect to be used BY the Holy Spirit in ways of ministry, that they hadn't experienced before.

Yes. He anointed you. It sort of does feel like someone poured warm oil or water on you and it’s dripping down and over you. And you get goosebumps, even if it’s not cold outside. The hair on your arm raises up.

Then, at times, it bubbles up inside you, the fount of living water, and you feel it again.

Many (myself included) can make a mistake and begin to think God has said something to them by it. For instance, someone will say something and you feel it and so you take it as Gods instruction whatever the person has said. We might even go around telling others, God said such and such to me.

Years ago, every time someone would say something like, Obama isn’t going anywhere, we now have a dictator, I would feel it. I became thoroughly convinced he was not going to leave office. I was wrong.
This happens with many of us. We think He has told us something that’s going to happen, or something He wants us to do. It’s a pretty common mistake.

We can also make the mistake of…being gluttonous. For instance, wanting to feel it and so doing things like listening to a song over and over just to keep feeling it. There’s something wrong about that, like…a spiritual gluttony and…seeking gratification in our flesh. Here’s one of the verses I found on it.
23 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee;

2 and put a knife to thy throat if thou be a man given to appetite.

3 Be not desirous of his dainties, for they are deceitful meat.

This does not mean God is being deceitful. It means…we are being very carnal and…are eating unworthily and in an unseemly manner at His table. Our carnality places all worth on gorging and feeling.

It’s somewhat difficult to try to convey a spiritual thing with words…

Yes often God is mistaken. The prickly feeling is something I do recognize as God.
