The electricity for heating is still coming through here in Britain but empty gaps have been appearing in the grocer's shelves for a couple of years now, but at least the water is still coming through.
Staying warm won't be too serious problem because we can always wear more woolies.
As regards food / water, just make sure your kitchen cupboard is kept full with mostly tinned stuff and that you've got a torch for lighting and a radio to keep in touch with the news, this stuff won't last forever but at least it'll tide us over til the government can hopefully organise relief supply columns..:)
