He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelation 3:22

Jesus wrote seven letters in Revelation to seven churches, and each time he rebuked or praised them or gave them instructions on how to overcome, He closed the letter with this statement. What this means is that some will hear, and some will not hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. We live in a time with very little Spiritual hearing, almost to the point of the churches and their members being Spiritually deaf.

Amos 8:11 states: Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: The deafness is to the point now where most of the churches are no longer wanting to or desiring to hear the Words of the LORD, They do not want to hear divine revelation directly from God, instead they cower in fear of false doctrine and having to reconsider their own indoctrinated doctrines. In other words, the spirit of fear has captivated them, and they no longer see the need for the truth of divine revelation and instead are content with their place in the kingdom.

The seven letters were written to seven churches, what that means is that in the churches of faithful believers some will hear and some will not, and never will. Some will overcome, and some never will. Some will repent and some never will.

What is it that determines who will hear?

I will leave this open ended with that question posed....

What is it that determines who will hear?

Free will and desire are generally the conditions for hearing the Word
But it is going to be different times than this current administration of grace ….and I am certainly glad we don’t have to go through that.

Hello David, and happy New year to you and yours. It sure does seem like we are in the midst of this spiritual fast already. Since giving up on the organized church's, I can only imagine it has gotten even worse. My experience in the church's of today? Dead, cold, uninspiring...oh but they got great snacks and free meals!!!

"What is it that determines who will hear?"

Well, ears to hear! But doesn't seem many will actually HAVE ears to hear as they have been stopped up by listening to carnal ways of understanding or, they won't even care as hey, they are saved! Sad and concerning :( Or, if one is of the reformed belief, doesn't matter how much you wish to be a part of Gods own family, if you are not chosen, you will NOT have ears to hear as they were not given to you. For you, hell is a preparin!
As far as hearing Him audibly, I'll not say I've ever experienced this but, I HAVE through His word or confirmation through another.
So to say all that, I have no clue. Lol. I'm sure you will get plenty of reply's here brother. Good subject!

It's a difficult thing, isn't it? To hear we have to have some sort of personal incentive, but we also need some sort of divine incentive?

Absolutely! Too many humans trying to direct the Spirit of God rather than the other way around.

It is "by the same measure" that one uses in belief or unbelief that is returned to them to hear or not to hear. Which is given to each according to the will of God and His purpose of revealing the truth while exposing and dissolving evil and darkness--it is a gift, "that none should boast."

Humility is the answer.

Isaiah 57:15 KJV
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Pride blinds and makes a person deaf.

Job 35:12 KJV
There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

Mark 4:11-12 KJV
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: [12] That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

A person who only sees the wrong of others and condemns them but does not see his own wrong is one who does not see and hear. He is blinded by the beam on his eyes, which makes him a hypocrite.

If a so-called believer still sins, that means he is still deaf and blind. Anyone who sins is a servant of sin.

Isaiah 59:1-2 KJV
Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: [2] But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
