Dev, I'm asking what YOU believe. I asked:
You replied:
If you misspoke, then please clarify what YOU believe.
I see that you are not understanding what I'm teaching which is from the bible. Ok let's break this down:
1. Jesus made a promise to the rich man that he would be saved if he gave away all his possessions to the poor. He couldn't do that and perhaps no one except the church described in the bible did. So no one is guaranteed salvation that way. Which is obeying the commandments. It is required to be perfect to receive that salvation.
2. Since we are not guaranteed salvation that way we must look to God to have mercy as a sinner as spelled out in the parable of the Tax collector and Pharisee.
3. By the way I have heard it argued that faith is a work of the soul and mind, just as obeying the commandments are a work of the soul and body. But having faith alone will not save us as it is dead.
4. So having faith and obeying the commandments are both provided by us. Not God, and we need the atonement and judgment of Christ to be saved.
Therefore the only conclusion I can draw from reading the bible is only mercy from God will save us apart from what we provide which is works of faith and attempting to obey the commandments perfectly.
