I am reminded of this

Jeremiah 17:9
“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?
Does this describe to you the old man, the unregenerate? Does this describe to you the new creation, born again in Christ?

How do we see ourselves, who we are, what God did for us?

Much love!

where it is dangerous is when we think we do not have issues.. and do not recognize our pride and ego
Don't be afraid to grow. Pride and ego live in the old man, we can learn to put off the old man and put on the new. The moment you recognize pride and ego (self-protectiveness), put that off. And remind yourself you are to be distributing God's gift of love to others.

Much love!

But after this simplicity is the matter of flesh versus Spirit, and what is God's program for me? We all have different degrees of damage, and God is working with us in different ways.
marks what you are saying goes directly against what was taught very early in the church (and is seen in the scripture). You are talking about later developments which were clearly satanically introduced to keep men from the union. There is no gradual sanctification. There is a process of coming to the point when we see that we cannot do it.

There comes a point, to those seeking closeness with Christ when they see their real state - wretched men.

This spoke to me Marks.

We play our part I believe, in walking in the Spirit, I have found all the time we hold onto self,( flesh) how can we walk in the Spirit ....we learn to hear his voice as we get closer and closer to him, also what grieves him.......is that him working in us softening our hearts.?

I’ve recognised that we can harden our hearts, when pride and ego take over, so we hold onto the flesh.

Just my thoughts Brother, talking out load..
Learning what pleases Him, learning what saddens Him, yes, I think He is working in us to soften us. I think the hardness in us is the fleshy desire for self-preservation.

Ephesians 2:10 KJV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Philippians 2:13 KJV
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Working on doing the right thing is good, working on being the right person is better. Drawing near to God is the best way to become the right person. The more we see Him, the more we become like Him.

Doing the same here . . . thinking out loud . . .

Much love!

Anyone who is on that path, will come to a crisis and see exactly what is inside them.

I don't think you've understood me.

Let me think about this a bit.

Much love!

Yes, that makes sense.....we’ve been birthed in the Spirit...therefore forgiven of our past wretched state, haven’t we?

I see, Jesus was telling nicodemus his problems. Not jesus problems.. Sorry I misunderstood you

Again, What did Jesus say was the cure of the problem, and the end result?
Jesus is telling Nico that he must be born again. I don't agree with your interpretation of this as I have explained previously.

I am not sure this is true.

The HS has to chasten some.. the only reason you would need chastened is if you do not see your need. and pride takes over..

this can happen to anyone

No we are still in it if we sin in thought word or deed.

Indeed it does happen to anyone and to all that seek righteousness. Our sins makes us blind.
