What did Paul in Hebrews 13 mean when he said to be remember to be hospitable to strangers, because some have entertained angels unaware?
As far as ANGELS are concerned, they don't have wings. Cherubim do but they are never called angels in the Bible, just Cherubim.
so an angel incarnate as a man came to Mary and said I have come to give you a child - sounds dodgy and blasphemy to me - winc

(snip) ..... although I do not believe we each have our own .....
Hi Stan ..... I tend to think we do .... only based on the verse that says ..... "are not all angels ministering spirits sent to those who will inherit salvation "
May be wishful thinking on my part (thinking they are personal Angels for each of us)
Could also mean Angels are sent to all Christians .... (sort of like a blanket statement)
I think it is from Hebrews 1

I was raised RC and was taught that. I've looked at Heb 1:14 before and it seems, based on ALL the angel talk in Hebrews, that these ministering spirits are sent to to those who WILL(future tense) inherit salvation. Chapter 2 goes on to talk more about how angels ministered in the OT. These were regular occurrences and a regular part of the everyday Hebrew life and church.
It is clear from Heb 2 that in the world to come, angels will serve us. It seems to be a rather interesting and LONG topic, not easily addressed in this thread.
The word "angel" is the Hebrew word for messenger. It means nothing else. Where it is used it will say whether the messenger had wings or not or whether the messenger is of the devil or of God.
so as an RC what do you think about Guardian angels or the flying angels that "will bear thee up lest thy foot should strike a stone"
so they dont have wings or else we would be aware if they had wings,so why wings sometimes and no wings other times - winc
I think he meant just that.... we entertain or are hospitable to strangers and some are angels. Many stories about this and other angelic events. The guardian Angel stories are NOT without foundation, although I do not believe we each have our own, but not knowing exactly how many there are, but in 2 Kings 6:17, Elisha's servant saw the hills FULL of them for just one event, with horses and chariots of fire even!
Also, the idea that an angel must go through some metamorphization to appear here on earth is not Biblically supported. The image likeness of 'man' originates from God's Own Image, as we're shown early in Gen.1:26-27. That's what angels have too, the image of man, and it has nothing to do with the flesh. Even the meaning from the Hebrew for Archangel's Gabriel's name is 'man of God'.
so how about the holy than thou archangels - btw are there any arch saints - twinc
