your news article is biased and misleading. who's side are you on anyway?

OH! YOU'RE the "Hamas supporter"! Did you read the article? It is slightly biased...towards ISRAEL.

Back on topic...

...At a joint press conference with Ban,Netanyahu said, “If a long term diplomatic solution can be put in place through diplomatic means, than Israel would be a willing partner.”

Already on Sunday, Israel agreed to hold off on a ground offensive into Gaza, to allow time for diplomacy to work.

But, Netanyahu told Ban, “if stronger military actions proves necessary to stop the constant barrage of rockets Israel will not hesitate to do what is necessary to defend our people.”

Since Israel launched Operation Pillar of Defense on Wednesday, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Germany have staunchly defended its right to protect its citizens from Hamas rocket attacks.

But a number international leaders have cautioned that they would not support a ground offensives.

The story actually started with Hamas lofting rockets into Israeli civilian centers.
No provocation beforehand. They were simply thinking that with Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood in charge that perhaps Egypt would join in against Israel.
Hamas misjudged the willingness of their Muslim comrades to support them and are now facing justifiable Israeli retaliation.
One simple point that is being overlooked.
Israel is targeting the actual aggressors, their leadership and their rocket sites.
Hamas is targeting civilians.

Who is the bad guy here?

Totally agree here...and, the media for sure know how to maniplulate the public .....(is this 'brain washing'. )

One good thing...we have read the end of The Book, and we know how it all ends. :)
No one looks forward to the 'nasty' before the nice...

Here in Australia they seem to be very definitely biased towards Hamas, which I just cannot understand.
Really....I think it comes down to this. People want peace, but the Israelis are very aware of this fact: If Hamas lay down their guns, the war ends. If Israel lay down their guns, they are wiped out. So while yes, both sides say they want 'peace', its going to have to be ultimate...a promise that Hamas won't some time next year decide they have the right to bomb Israel again...feel they have a god given right to kill an entire people...women and children included. And they don't seem especially honest or honourable people, so I just don't know if Israel can take that risk.

No, I did not. You do know what a news article is, right? It is what happened THAT DAY.

-- But you make no mention whatsoever as to WHY the Israelis did this.
By leaving that out - COMPLETELY - you give the impression that this was an unprovoked act of war by Israel.

Or do you not remember what and only what you said:

"Israeli air strike kills Hamas military chief Jabari

The IAF struck and killed Hamas armed wing Izzadin Kassam Brigades commander Ahmed Jabari in central Gaza on Wednesday. The strike marked the beginning of Operation Pillar of Defense to target Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror organizations in Gaza, IDF spokesman Yoav Mordechai announced.

Hamas: Assassination is a declaration of war

The assassination of top Hamas leader Ahmed Jabari is a declaration of war, Fawzi Barhoum, a spokesman for the Islamist movement, said Wednesday.

Barhoum's statement came as Hamas's armed wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, vowed to avenge the killing of its commander."

What I marvel at is that Hamas says the assassination is an 'act of war.'
Apparently in their eyes, unprovoked rocket attacks into the civilian centers of a neighboring country isn't.....

So again I ask Gypsy........who is the agrieved party here?

So I suppose we try to make the world idiot proof. And not post the news of the day without elaborating on every event since Abraham.
Because some idiot will see the news and presume thats the whole story.

Believe me I have worked in several fields, you can't make anything idiot proof.

based on this thread this is a finest example of a strawman I've seen in a while.

Things are heating up - implies an event previous ----------and yes Abraham did lay with Hagar and had a son Ismael

Um...I made no mention of ANYTHING. I posted a NEWS article. It's not up to me to give you a history lesson. This IS the "Current Events and Political Forum". If you are not aware what is going on in the world around you that is your problem.

no it doesn't read Foreigners post #27

Go troll someone else, Sparky.

I can see I made my point

Last post on the previous page.
I forgot he had a son Isaac as well, I wouldn't want to be accused of being biased

It wasn't stolen the LORD clearly said Gen 18:10 no mention from the Lord about Ismael till after his birth.

...Terrorists in the Gaza Strip continued to fire rockets at Israel Tuesday night, amid reports of an imminent cease-fire.

Earlier Tuesday IAF planes dropped leaflets over northern Gaza warning residents to leave the area immediately.

At 2:20 PM, shortly after a rocket was fired into the Jerusalem area, the IDF began striking Gaza-based terror cell members. Airstrikes hit two Hamas members in northern Gaza. Shortly thereafter, the IDF destroyed 30 rocket launchers and a Hamas hideout used as a weapons storage facility.

I just heard a news report that they've announced a cease fire...initialized by Egypt, brokered by Clinton.

Gypsie, your initial post shows the actions by the Israelis and the claim by Hamas that it is an act of war.

Those two things ALONE qualify for 'heating up' in the M.E.

You still haven't stated your position on these events.

So I ask yet again.....who exactly do you see as the agrieved party here?

First of all it's "Gypsy".

Secondly...Since it is a snippet of a NEWS article and NOT an opinion piece AND NOT written by me, my opinion is irrelevant. I was simply posting the latest on what was happening that day.

Thirdly...I have quoted the OP and snipped it down to the parts that show your incorrect assertion. (If I could figure out how to bold something on my ipad, I would.)

Israeli air strike kills Hamas military chief Jabari

Operation Pillar of Defense to target Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror organizations in Gaza, IDF spokesman Yoav Mordechai announced.

http://www.jpost.com/Defense/Article.aspx?id=

Now...there's the first part which clearly states Israel is targeting HAMAS AND ISLAMIC TERROR ORGANIZATIONS.

Next...

Hamas: Assassination is a declaration of war

The assassination of top Hamas leader Ahmed Jabari is a declaration of war, Fawzi Barhoum, a spokesman for the Islamist movement, said Wednesday.

Barhoum's statement came as Hamas's armed wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, vowed to avenge the killing of its commander.

http://www.jpost.com/MiddleEast/Article.aspx?id=291841

This was the response of HAMAS...NOT the reporters and NOT mine.

Again...this is a SNIPPET from a NEWS article. The reason I only post snippets is because it is illegal according to the Fair Use Law to post an entire article from ANY site and the owner (in this case Hammerstone) can be held liable for such an infringement.

Intelligent people KNOW to get the whole story they can either click on the link or go find out what else is on the Internet.

It is really sad that with all the other forums on this board that are set up and geared towards discussion and OPINION that we have to turn what SHOULD have been an update on a current event into this type of nonsense.

Please note that Hammerstone's comment is addressed to a post after mine that he removed.

He is not saying that my third request for Gypsy to voice who is actually the agrieved party in this conflct is "insulting to other members."
