A simple and quick way of knowing your direct connection to God is looking what is written here which I believe is one of the first letters John sent with the Gospel which he had also distributed to those to be able to continue not only orally however but matter of factly in faith concerning the Word which was with in the beginning with God before having been sent down from a prior position which the Word once was being born in the flesh born as a man.


”My dear friends, many false prophets are in the world now. So don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God.

This is how you can recognize God’s Spirit. One spirit says, “I believe that Jesus is the Messiah who came to earth and became a man.”

That Spirit is from God. Another spirit refuses to say this about Jesus. That spirit is not from God. This is the spirit of the enemy of Christ.

You have heard that the enemy of Christ is coming, and now he is already in the world. My dear children, you belong to God, so you have already defeated these false prophets.

That’s because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

And they belong to the world, so what they say is from the world too. And the world listens to what they say. But we are from God. So the people who know God listen to us.

But the people who are not from God don’t listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit that is true and the spirit that is false. Dear friends, we should love each other, because love comes from God.

Everyone who loves has become God’s child. And so everyone who loves knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

This is how God showed his love to us: He sent his only Son into the world to give us life through him. True love is God’s love for us, not our love for God. He sent his Son as the way to take away our sins.

That is how much God loved us, dear friends! So we also must love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us. If we love each other, God’s love has reached its goal—it is made perfect in us.

We know that we live in God and God lives in us. We know this because he gave us his Spirit. We have seen that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world, and this is what we tell people now.

Anyone who says, “I believe that Jesus is the Son of God,” is a person who lives in God, and God lives in that person.

So we know the love that God has for us, and we trust that love. God is love. Everyone who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in them.

If God’s love is made perfect in us, we can be without fear on the day when God judges the world.

We will be without fear, because in this world we are like Jesus.

Where God’s love is, there is no fear, because God’s perfect love takes away fear. It is his punishment that makes a person fear. So his love is not made perfect in the one who has fear.

We love because God first loved us. If we say we love God but hate any of our brothers or sisters in his family, we are liars.

If we don’t love someone we have seen, how can we love God? We have never even seen him. God gave us this command: If we love God, we must also love each other as brothers and sisters.“

But the people who are not from God don’t listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit that is true and the spirit that is false. Dear friends, we should love each other, because love comes from God.

You said a mouthful here! Learning discernment is a progressive thing if we are to abide in Christ. I asked the Lord before to give me better discerment, and His answer blew me away, lol I didnt understand it at first. He said you can practice discernment by looking for me within other people.

I had in my mind to discern between good and evil, and He said that? So I didnt get it right away, lol. But now I do. He said that because if you are looking for Him, then His spirit flows. And the Love flows. And when His love flows spotting good & evil right off the bat comes naturally, and with His Love flowing through us to others (Be a river, Not a Pond!) then we are definitly abiding in Him as we should.

What does Abide mean anyway? Oh to be in Him, in the Spirit. But I wanted to see anyways so looked it up and got a surprise!

The word “abide” is used ten times in the first ten verses of John 15. Looking at the Greek roots of the word, we discover helpful definitions. To abide is to “dwell,” “remain,” “be present,” and to “be held and kept.” Abiding addresses our posture and place. Where are we in proximity to Christ?.../

Be present! When? Right Now! Be held and kept? So protection is automatic when we abide in the Spirit of the Lord.

The Oxford says 1. accept or act in accordance with (a rule, decision, or recommendation).
2. be able to tolerate (someone or something)..../

That's interesting. What's the rule? Oh, come on, we all know the rule! Lol.

John 15:4-5 (the entire chapter should be read).
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.../KJV

That's the rule to abiding in Christ then. If we dont get connected to Him every morning, and walk with Him all day long, talking to Him (!!) (pray unceasingly), and constantly be looking for Him, even in others.

When you do that, then you can step out into the world and Have Almighty God protecting you, and goes before you, and is your rear guard, and is beside you and in you and you are in Him.....WHo can stand against you?!!

So as you walk around with your friend who is closer than Brother everyday, you wind up talking some small talk to Him also! And (wow), He loves small talk! At least your're talking to Him! He loves the interaction and attention, and rightly so!

This was a great idea for a thread. It really is, all about Love. Learn to love.

We have been Born Again in our spirit, not in our intellect, it’s our spirit that communicates with God via His Spirit, without His Spirit , no communication, we don’t even know him without His Spirit.

Well...that's code talk for struggling Christians (or Lost Souls!). They can be forgiven too, and it is a process to be renewed in your heart by the renewing of your mind through the word. . Everybody should read their Bible even more than they do, even me! That''s food for the spirit and lets him grow and be strong. So, eat your spiritual veggies every day!

Besides, there could be one guy who maybe dont even post much but reads a lot, and with the Holy Spirit on the job, something you write may just touch someone's heart and lead them to the Lord? (And you wouldnt even know it happened, lol! But it may go into the rewards catagorie.

Abiding in Him is being there in the moment, except...aboding there and staying there in that place. That's not always easy out in the world. But what it amounts to I think is the becoming like a little child thing again. Daddy what should I do? You cant let go of Daddy's hand at the carnival, there's too many spooky scary funhouses where you die at the end. If we let go of Daddy's hand we will get ibto trouble fast!

So I believe that is the discipline. Just like a two year old who Daddy took them to a strange place with a lot of strange people and it can be scary, so the 2 yr olds will cling to their parent! Am I right?
Ok, so they cling to the Daddy or Mommy and decide not to try to get loose from them! They know the parents love them and will protect them. And that's what it's all about, Abiding in Abba's love.

Then after that, (or during that rather) all these things shall be added unto you automatically. Your Protector is with you, your Savior is with you, your Healer is with you, Your Teacher is with you,

After all, the Lord sorta described Earth to me as His University of Brotherly Love. We must reach for Love and abide in it, and learn to Love as much you can while here about Loving people!

We all do that. I've done that. I think that's why He gave us a Conscience! Because our conscience is for when we are not paying attention to God. My conscience dont scream at me as much now as it did when I was younger. But the Holy Spirit bears witness directly to our spirit, so our conscience always knows the right thing to do. so God included a conscience for us (Himself?!!!) to speak and say DON'T DO IT !

Our spirit and our soul are connected to each other and inseperable. And we're there (in our carnal mind as the one who has to decide what to do. To do good for someone in need? (No, rob the bank instead!) You cant do that and even someone who is not walking with the Lord still knows it's wrong. Because their conscience is working.

That said, the question becomes we decide to side with the flesh, or side with the Spirit! Whichever Wolf you feed will win. So we have to feed the good wolf with the word of God and meditation upon His word. That's very important. Scripture says somewhere something about the Holy Spirit will cause things to come to our rememberance at the right time. Right?

But think about that, even Data Input clerks have jobs and are needed. We have to read for ourselves and study it because no good computer program makes sense (or work) if it is not loaded onto the machine! (Computers are only counterfeits of us and God's work anyway, lol. But the priciple is the same. Garbage in/garbage out.

I was thinking about this one day and...had the thought, I will stand before Jesus one of these days, when it's time for Him to say, well done, faithful one! But what if He asks me, did you read my book?

It would be embarassing to have to say no. So I read it cover to cover to cover. Starting with Genesis and finishing Revalation. It was a 1 year reading program. Read 3 chapters per day and you'll finish the whole Bible in a year. So I read it once a year now. Sometimes I feel that's not enough, but I dont go below 3 chapters per day. Sometimes 4 or 5 if their short chapters or if it's at the next to last chapter end of a book then I'll go ahead and read the first 3 chapters of the next book. I finished, Nehemiah12 this morning.

Abiding in love is doing love, and the Spirit shed into us is the love of God, and love is lowly, not exalted..
