False teaching. The church has done no such thing.

Satan be damned!
The evidence is in. Most Christians refuse to obey Peter per Acts 2:38, when they asked, what shall I do?
They fight it tooth and nail.
The last thing they would do is get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, much less get baptized at all.

So are you saying that Peter was premature at telling people in the book of Acts to be baptized in the name of Jesus and should’ve wait until the book of Romans was written so we could skip Acts altogether like you guys do?
Not at all, Peter realized them he was preaching to had been born again by the Spirit and were now seeking spiritual guidance.

Them in Acts 2:38 had already been forgiven of their sins at the cross of Christ, for forgiveness is by His Blood. Eph 1:7

So when he promised them that they could receive the Holy Ghost after being baptized, in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, they already had the Holy Ghost?

That promise wasn't promising regeneration. And besides that, Cornelius received the Spirit before he was water baptized Acts 10:44-47

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Peter knew Cornelius was saved when he commanded they be baptized, same for Acts 2:38

Christendom has declared war on Acts 2:38. It is it is a bizarre thing to see. We are definitely living in the last days. If you post the verse or even attempt to elaborate on it, you get swarmed with folks that have spent their life fighting it. It is weird that the New Testament church practiced it and most Christians despise it.

You forgot that one must be born again BEFORE they go get water dunked as we see in scripture.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Some folks never get born again so when they get dunked in the water all they get is wet.

The starting point is when one believes in their heart, confesses Jesus as their Lord, and turns away from sin

Acts 26:18
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

AFTER one is born again they should get dunked in water as this is being obedient to what the Lord said.

Mark 16:16
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved

Now... here's where the church of christ folks lose their minds...

If someone gets born again and an accident happens on the way top being dunked in the water... they STILL go to Heaven.

Some of the COC peoples claim that this would send the person to hell.

Apparently they think the Lord would tell them, "Too bad! If you had made it to the water to be baptized I could let you in to My kingdom... but you didn't make it, so sorry I have to send you to hell"

Theologies that emphasize a single verse tend to meet with opposition.

forgiveness of sins is by the blood of Christ.

Exactly, and here a few scriptures that say exactly this...

Hebrews 9:22
without shedding of blood is no remission.

1 John 1:7
if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Matthew 26:28
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Revelation 12:11
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Revelation 1:5
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Hebrews 9:14
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Ephesians 1:7
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 2:13
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Hebrews 9:12
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Romans 5:9
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Hebrews 13:12
Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

Hebrews 13:20
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

Acts 20:28
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Hebrews 10:19
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

1 Peter 1:18-19
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Revelation 7:14
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Romans 3:25
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Colossians 1:20
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

1 John 2:2
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

No, those that get born again are called to be water baptized... it's just not the point in which a believer becomes born again.

Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Acts 2:37.38
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

1 Peter 3:21
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Colossians 2:11-13
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Romans 6:4
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

I'm not saying one does not first repent, believe, and confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This is of course the first thing one does for initial salvation. Without doing this, one can get dunked in the water all they want and that does not make them saved.

After initial salvation, the Lord instructs us to be baptized which is a public demonstration and public acknowledgement before others that we are dead with Him and are raised up together unto new life.... it is making a covenant with the Lord when we are baptized, making a commitment, making a promise to turn from our old life unto living for Him.

This process is the starting point for us to start walking in newness of life, having a clean conscience toward God which is what actually saves us. Being dunked in water itself is not the moment one becomes born again as we should already be born again before getting baptized.

As mentioned in 1 Peter 3:21, having a clean conscience toward God having accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, having confessed out sins before the Lord is what saves us. Now... as we see the thief on the Cross next to Jesus acknowledge the Lord as His Savior (Luke 23:39-43)... and Jesus told this man that he was going to paradise, if one finds themselves in a situation where it's not possible to get water baptized, then they will still be saved if they have truly been born again.

Apart from this, we are required to be baptized because God's tells us to be water baptized in His Word. Those having opportunity to be baptized and choose to disobey God's Word are disobeying the Gospel and the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience (knowingly disobeying the Lord is an evil desire, see Colossians 3:5,6).

Through the faith of the operation of God (Colossians 2:12) through water baptism are we raised up in newness of life (Romans 6:4) to have a clean conscience towards the Lord to walk with Him and we will be saved IF we endure until the end of our life abiding IN Christ.

In conclusion, if one has opportunity to be baptized and chooses to ignore and disobey Mark 16:16, Acts 2:37.38, 1 Peter 3:21, Colossians 2:11-13, and Romans 6:4...then the after life is not going to be as they think.

The poster is under a strong delusion friend. Back in the 70s I was part of a cult, Apostolic Faith church, and we believed one had to be baptized in the name of Jesus to get saved, based on a misunderstanding of Acts 2:38. I would preach at baptist churches and tell them they weren't saved if they haven't been water baptized according to Acts 2:38. I was very zealous with that, but thanks be to God He delivered me from that false teaching and taught me about Salvation by the Grace of God.

Agreed, I was working at a Methodist church and most of them believed in baptism to be saved. I couldn't convince them, even the Pastor "sprinkled" baptisms. I believe there was just one Christian in that Church. The Holy Spirit told me to Leave quickly.

Jesus said all teaching starting with John the Baptist is new testament teaching...

Obey and celebrate it.
Jesus baptizes with the Holy spirit His people. John baptized with water. And Paul baptized no one lest the cross be emptied of its power.

False, forgiveness of sins is by the blood of Christ. You in grave error friend.
You obtain the blood by being buried with Christ through baptism in the name of Jesus. The blood has not covered the Earth, regardless of peoples situations. You have to get it specifically by obeying Peter per repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

You bury folks alive.
