Thanks
@Taken. Much appreciated!
It is a difficult thing to Know how to connect with people whose mind is troubled with years of negative, haunting, disturbing thoughts….
I have many times visited elderly rest homes, seen the elderly who sit alone in silence, avoiding eye contact, nor having interest in interacting with others….AND witnessed having Jesus songs they knew from childhood, even patriotic songs, being sung, stir a desire that they begin singing along. I would move about the room, pausing by “loners”, touch my hand upon their, say their name, give them a smile, a nod and get a hand squeeze and or a smile from them. It seems so little but, in a feeling sort of way, to me, it seems to have warmed their hearts. A similar thing…is to take soft chew cookies or grapes, for example and setting them by where people are sitting…no forcing…just here for you to take as you please. I don’t put such food on a big tray, (too overwhelming) but rather use “coffee filters” and set such food items by each person…that concept is because IMO, so many elderly, are taken Care OF….and make so FEW choices of their own, and giving them a choice so to speak.
Just sharing…
Glory to God,
Taken
