Maybe you should worry more about whether or not you're a true believer rather than worrying who else.may or may not be. The same is true for me btw.Matthew 7:15-20
You Will Know Them by Their Fruits
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
The fruits of the Spirit: Every true believer knows what the fruits of the spirit are by memory, like the ten commandments. If you don't know those two things, you can't see them in the mirror. Start there!

This is what I read as the fruits of the Spirit being;Matthew 7:15-20

What you just described are the characteristices the likes of Jimmy and Tammy Faye Bakker, Jimmy was convicted of felon, look them up, another Jimmy, Jimmy Swaggart and others like, Robert Tilton. There are many others.I look for the fruit of the Spirit, yes, and the other evidences of his work in a person's life (conviction, strengthening, teaching, transformation, comfort, Christ-like love of the brethren, hunger for God's word, a desire for holiness, etc.), I know God's Truth well, too, and I know how to think well. Altogether, these things thoroughly equip me to distinguish the "wolf in sheeps' clothing."

Why do you make the point of "knowing God's Truth well, too", and "knowing how to think well"? Was my post offensive to your thinking that you would need to speak as if in defense of yourself? What's that about?
When the bible teaches us that the truth will set us free, it's referring to recieving truth by way of the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things.
Christians who are set free don't compromise their faith in Jesus when nobody's watching. If they are compromisers and luke warm, Jesus will spew them out of His mouth, and Jesus makes sure it is to the churches He sends that message to.
You have revealed your lack of discernment, a fruit or gift of the Holy Spirit, who allows us to discern someone true spirit. Yet you did not use the term because I'm assuming you don't have the gift of discernment. You would have said, the Holy Spirit revealed God's truth to me.
When God Judges He will not have need of "other evidences", your words, God judges the heart.
??? I don't follow what you're saying here...
No, I didn't think your post was offensive. I was just throwing in my "two cents."
I mentioned knowing Scripture well and being able to think well because these are both essential to good discernment.
John 8:31-36
31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
33 They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, 'You will become free'?"
34 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.
35 "The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever.
36 "So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
I'm not seeing in this passage the bit you mentioned about "receiving truth by way of the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things." In fact, Jesus clarifies that by "the truth will make you free" what he meant was that he would make them free - and free indeed (vs. 36). This is a reference to his role as "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (Jn. 1:29) which is made evident from his remarks in verses 34 and 35 concerning sin and slavery to it.
You're right, though, that the Holy Spirit is our Teacher (Jn. 14:26; 16:14; 1 Cor. 2:10-16). But he is in tandem with our knowledge of God's word and our skill in thinking well (which is learned, not innate).
Well, born-again people shouldn't compromise their faith, but the NT is filled with remarks to believers who were doing just that. See 1 Corinthians 3, 5, 6, 11, or Galatians 3-5, or Romans 6, or Revelation 2-3. It was also the apostle John who wrote, "If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us," (1 Jn. 1:8). So, he didn't think a perfectly uncompromising life as a Christian was possible, though, he did expect that, in the main, Christians were not living habitually in sin.
??? Well, you're entitled to your opinion...
Yes, He does. Yours, too, right?
You again personalize and glorify your good thinking and good knowledge and then, rightfully so, you place the value of a few cents to it. I certainly agree with you on that.??? I don't follow what you're saying here...

All the huff and puff you so divided up is nothing more than a cover up. Jesus didn't say what He said regarding truth as a way to say He will give it to you. He said it as a way to say that you accept the lie because you are a slave to sin with something to hide, and the only way to be set free from the bondage of sin is to be born from above. You obviously are not born again. If you were, you would know that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God and if you hear the word of God, you would accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and recieve the Holy Spirit in your life as a demonstration of your repentance, having been set free from your sin, and allowing your body to not participate with the harlotries of sin, but rather become the temple of the Holy Spirit.
John 16:13
13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
You answerd my original post with a fight attitude because the truth offended you. You felt exposed, for what reason I don't care to know, and your two cents worth of nothing is what you wanted to offer to say you don't need truth because of your good knowledge and good inking and other &!@#$ was all you needed. You self righteous sinner you. Then you took every paragraph I wrote, again, to prove you're as slick as a prosecutor and can challenge that the Holy Spirit is NOT "The Spirit of truth", nor can He guide me to the truth, why it's only Jesus who gives it to me, SO THERE.
All that to show your religion, whatever it is, isn't worth two cents.
What's nasty is your narsistic, I'm a victim, it isn't me doing this honest. You got kicked hard by the truth that the Holy Spirit 'IS' the spirit of truth and rather than referring to Jesus word, you cover it up by saying I'm having a bad day, when it's a reflection of your day and it's two cent value. Even now you keep trying to kick the !@#$% you started under a loud carpet that reads "NASTY" and then point to me as though it's my carpet and my dirt YOU'RE hiding it under. Live with it.Ummm... okay.... Are you having a bad day? This is all really over-the-top defensive and nasty. Wow.
samedMaybe you should worry more about whether or not you're a true believer rather than worrying who else.may or may not be. The same is true for me btw.
