So, how do you deal with "a 1000 years is as a de you suggesting we take that literally as well, or do we only take it literally when it supports your agenda or doctrine???
What has your inner divine Adjudicator, Interpretor, the indwelling Spirit of Truth revealed to you in relation to this statement, But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing: that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Did He tell you to take it literally? Did He tell you not to?

Many people use the bible to build an argument in favour of a literal interpretation and many use the same bible to prove it's not literal.

Therefore the bible isn't a reliable decision maker tool.

A song was sung in heaven and it goes like this.....
Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Absolutely.
The earth gets a makeover as the new earth as does heaven becomes the new heaven.
They are recreated according to the pattern God made of them in the beginning and God made the earth to be inhabited.

But it is still the earth and the heaven even though a new creation. It is just made new again.
I do believe the old earth and old heaven perish and pass away and it says no place is found for them, so they are gone.

And when do they begin to reign?
Well, they reign with Christ on His throne now and in the future. Revelation 3:21
And they reign with Christ in the Holy City that descends from heaven onto the earth., with God dwelling among them, they reign with Him on the earth. And that reign never ends.

Revelation 21
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the [h]great city, the [i]holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

Here are the relevant verses for the people of God who overcome the world

  1. Revelation 2:7
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” ’
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  2. Revelation 2:11
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” ’
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  3. Revelation 2:17
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” ’
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  4. Revelation 2:26
And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  5. Revelation 3:5
He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  6. Revelation 3:12
He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  7. Revelation 3:21
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  8. Revelation 21:7
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.

Peter writes that as a counter to the scoffers who are going to say in the last days, where is the promise of His coming, for ever since the fathers fell asleep, nothing has changed.
That is the reference to understand a 1000 years is as a day to God, so Christ is not yet returned is as if only 2 days have passed for God.

We have a great future ahead of us. To reign, to rule, to serve under King Jesus now and in His coming kingdom.

And to reside in the New Jerusalem, the Holy City.

Then to restore and complete the rest of the creation, the heavens that are groaning now, longing to be released from being subject to decay, just as we are up til now.

What an awesome hope we have.

Here you go in Romans 8 about the creation, which will be liberated from the cycle of decay, the bondage of corruption, along with ourselves at that wonderful glorious time to come.

From Suffering to Glory

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of [f]corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. 24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

And this

2 Peter 3

The Day of the Lord

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be [d]burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

And this
1 Peter 1

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,

To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood:

Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Praise to God for a Living Hope

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, 11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

Be Holy

13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”[a]

17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.[b] 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,

“All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.”[c]
And this is the word that was preached to you.

What peace and hope this gives us hey. Jesus being an example of what lies ahead for us, glorification.

Jesus has gone ahead.
Heb 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20where Jesus our forerunner has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.

The word of God is excellent! It fills your soul with the goodness of the Lord towards us.

1 John 3
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of [a]God! Therefore the world does not know [b]us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

The Holy Bible is not a "decision maker tool". It is in fact the "Living Word of God". We don't get to read it and then make a decision as to what it means. His Word reads us and shows us who we are.

God did say that His Word is foolishness to those who are perishing, His Word makes no sense to those who are outside of Christ. So if you come across people who can't figure out why words such as "day" or "a thousand years", are used in different contexts, then you know they don't have the God given gift of discernment.

I think many use it to determine what God's will might be. And certainly as a decision making tool.

what do YOU mean by the term, Living Word of God? The last bible I saw wasn't alive. It was made of a dead tree.
We don't get to read it and then make a decision as to what it means.
This was the very thing Jesus intended people to do with His words. He said He only told parables which the listeners had to make a decision as to what He meant.
His Word reads us and shows us who we are.
I thought GOD reads us, as He is an all discerning living Being. That He reveals who He is when He communicates with us through His Spirit.
God did say that His Word is foolishness to those who are perishing, His Word makes no sense to those who are outside of Christ.
His words makes sense to anyone whose eyes have been opened by His Spirit. It's all about the work of the Spirit in this age.

Can you explain what you mean here. Thanks

Sure. What he’s really saying is: “If you don’t interpret ‘day’ or ‘a thousand years’ like I do, you must not have spiritual discernment.”

That’s not discernment — it’s a confidence misplaced in error.

The verse in question — 2 Peter 3:8 — doesn’t have anything to do with prophecy charts or end-times math.
It’s about God’s patience, not a countdown clock.

Peter is answering scoffers who mock Christ’s return, saying, “Where is He?”
And Peter replies: God isn’t slow — He’s timeless.
“With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like a day.”

It’s poetic. Not literal.
It’s a reminder that God doesn’t operate on our timeline — not a secret code for dispensational predictions.

So no — disagreeing with someone’s rigid interpretation doesn’t mean you “lack discernment.”
It means you’re thinking.

Discernment isn’t about echoing a system.
It’s about letting the Spirit lead and letting Scripture interpret Scripture — not turning metaphors into math problems to serve an agenda.

I hope every lurker reading through this thread wakes up to the catastrophic damage done by Darby, Scofield, Oxford, and the Rockefellers. Around 1900, they introduced a theology no apostle, no saint, no martyr would’ve tolerated for five minutes.

And now we’ve got millions misled
millions brainwashed beyond recognition.

The “two gospels” heresy is a foundational pillar of the Scofield lie
a lynchpin in the entire Dispensationalist deception.

And now people are out here claiming that Jesus and Paul preached different Gospels
which isn’t just wrong.
It’s heretical.

Jesus:
“This is My blood of the new covenant, poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” — Matthew 26:28
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15

Paul:
“Christ died for our sins… was buried… and rose again on the third day.” — 1 Corinthians 15:1–4
“There is no other Gospel.” — Galatians 1:6–9

Paul didn’t invent the Gospel.
He was commissioned by the risen Christ HimselfGalatians 1:11–12 — to carry it to the nations.

So no — the Gospel wasn’t split.
It wasn’t “Jesus for the Jews” and “Paul for the Church.”
That’s not theology.
That’s blasphemy in a Scofield footnote.

The early Church didn’t preach two gospels.
They preached one cross, one King, one Gospel — to Jew and Gentile alike.

Let’s be painfully clear:
No Christian in history believed this nonsense until 1910.

Not the apostles.
Not the early Church Fathers.
Not Irenaeus. Not Clement. Not Polycarp. Not Augustine. Not Athanasius.
Not one.

The “Paul vs. Jesus” fantasy didn’t exist until Darby and Scofield fabricated it
then slipped it into the margins of the Bible with commentary no apostle ever wrote.

So if your 'two gospel' theology didn’t exist before Scofield,
it’s not the Gospel.
It’s a 20th-century fraud that would’ve been driven out with a whip by Peter, Paul — and Christ Himself.

History alone proves that —
One thousand nine hundred years of unbroken witness,
and not a single saint, martyr, or apostle ever preached this lie.
It came from the pit, not the Gospel.

Nobody has the right to use and abuse Gods Word, for their own evil purpose. So no, you don't get to determine anything, nor do you get to decide anything about Gods Word. It is non negotiable....

I don't have the time to teach you the basic facts about Gods Word. I would strongly suggest you join a beginners bible study group, which is led by a faithful Minister. There, you will get to learn about all of the foundational facts.

Jesus gave His people, the Word of God. It wasn't given as some kind of a kids puzzle, for us to figure out. He gave us instructions and commandments, not some silly suggestions which you can take or discard at your discretion. You have a very low view of God.

I'm not sure who you're referring to when you say "GOD reads us". He doesn't reveal who He is by His Spirit, He reveals who He is by His Word. The Lord Jesus Christ, it the Almighty Jehovah God, the Creator of everything that exists. He is the Word of God.

The living word of God, alive and powerful. Recall Jesus said this about His words,

John 6
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. 65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”

*****************
Now we have God's word written down for us, as John says here so we can know we have eternal life
His words live inside of us.
Yes, words on a page of a book, to the unbelieving, just a philosophy, but they are of the Spirit and of life for us who believe, they are precious.
******************
1 John 5
12 He who has the Son has [a]life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, [b]and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

John 21:25
And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

**********************************
Hebrews 4
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, [a]not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”

6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, 7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”
8 For if [b]Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

The Word Discovers Our Condition

11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

*****************
Now we have God's word written down for us, as John says here so we can know we have eternal life
His words live inside of us.
Yes, words on a page of a book, to the unbelieving, just a philosophy, but they are of the Spirit and of life for us who believe, they are precious.

Amen.

Yes, the Word of God is Jesus.

Then there is the word of God that was spoken through prophets and Jesus.

Then there's the word of God spoken through the church starting with Peter and has continued over the past 2000 years of the life of the church.

Then the documented word of God that spans from creation to now.

Then there's the COMPLETE word of God which is of course, EVERY word that proceeds from the mouth of God throughout all eternity without end.

Yes, and we can know God and Jesus by the written word of God.
God's spoken word gives life to the dead.
God is a spirit, and we must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
We can know the truth through the written words of God.
We also know him in our spirits as it says in Romans 8, but I cannot talk to you in that way, all I can do is talk to you about the written words of God.

Matthew 4:4
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Romans 8:15-17

15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba,[a] Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Yes, and after we are brought to life, born again, then we can hear God communicate with us directly. No need for a medium.

But I acknowledge that scriptures are beneficial and profitable to point us to the Spirit of Christ. Then He, the Spirit of Truth will lead us into all truth. Jesus points us to HIM, His Spirit. Let's embrace the Gift of God Jesus sent and live by Him.

Please talk to us, testifying of what the Spirit is saying directly to you and is doing in you specifically.

As those contributors of the scriptures wrote down what God said to them without having to refer to what someone had previously said, so please write down what God's Spirit says to you and post it.

I won't judge you if there is no precedence, and you can't say, 'it is already written'.... We have the mind of Christ within. We have God within. Why are we afraid and so fearful to just hear God and share it with those we love?

The fear of man is rife. Placing us in bondage to the ever reducing prison cell of their imposed doctrine and beliefs and practices.

I love seeing those being set free from man constructed religion. I love not being under any religious denomination and to walk in the naked truth as it is being revealed to me by the Spirit of our God and Creator!

For example, in the scripture is spoken about the inner man of the Spirit of God, whom the Holy Spirit teaches,

1 Corinthians 2

6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God [c]ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

9 But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the [d]Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
