1. Be his girlfriend. Settle down later.
God wants us to be wives. The culture tells young women to date for fun and enjoy it non-seriously. That you might need to go through a string of failed relationships so you know "the one".
The only reason to date someone is to see if you will marry them or not.
2. Only get married when you're older.
The truth is, there are a lot of advantages to marrying younger (18-24). You give the best of yourself to your husband. It makes waiting till marriage for sex a lot easier and that honors the Lord. Marrying as virgins gives a life long marriage bond that isnt easily broken. You have a lot of energy for pregnancy and children. When you're younger, you have the best selection of suitors who are attracted to you.
Responsibility does not come with age. It comes with life experience. I got married at 20 and my husband was 19 at the time. Was everyone against us? Yes. Were we immature? Absolutely. But we matured through our decision to marry, not by avoiding it.
3. It's all about the big wedding. Put off marriage to save for it.
Having a big wedding was not the great thing it was made out to be. You have to think about where that money could go that might mean more to you....a place to live... a neat honeymoon....not starting marriage broke or in debt.
A wedding is just one day. You and your husband have to live with the stress and financial consequences afterward.
5. Education and Career Trump all.
Check out Titus 2:3-5. Christian women are to be keepers at home. If I could go back, I would not gone to college and had babies right away with my husband. I did not find the workplace to be this liberating place of fufillment that people made it out to be. It was awful.
I now understand I dont need a career. Being a homemaker is the best use of my intelligence and time.
It is okay to not want to go to college. Really.
6. Makeup = Beauty
Women do a lot better with healthy bodies, hair, and smiling without makeup. I was shocked at how many men find makeup unappealing.
