Did it ever occur to you to ask yourself if what this person was saying was true?

It is true because later I learned it was true because God teaches about this in His Word.

You admittedly reject the Lord so you really don't know what Truth actually is.

You did it save your own skin, by your own admission.

I did because I'm not stupid!

It's very slow for someone to hear about the opportunity to get saved and not go to hell and decide and then decide they'd rather go ahead and go to hell. That's really really slow.

Prove it. Show me evidence of people burning in hell.

Believe whatever you want bud, you've been notified.

When people arrive in hell, they'll see the evidence they asked for.

Why not be nice to EVERYONE and behave like a Christian should behave....

You mean don't share the whole truth with people?

We can never be too sure...
maybe @Riven will end up with you in heaven.....

How is someone going to be in Heaven when they refuse to accept the Lord and get born again?

Are you one of them universalists that claim Jesus lied when He said you have to be born again?

maybe more than some that consider themselves to be Christian but don't ACT like it.

You think we should keep the Light of the Gospel hidden then, right?

Jesus said:
Matthew 7:24
24 "Therefore everyone who
hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Correct, and those refusing to act on God's Word to get born again and live for Him are building their lives on sinking sand and in the end their fall into hell shall be catastrophic

Thanks for making my point for me! :gd

But you didn't know at the time. You were simply afraid and didn't want to go to hell. It is true, I don't know what the truth is. I only know that I don't know yet. Maybe someday that will change.

What makes you think anyone can be saved through fear? Do you really believe the nature of your conversion won't be brought to your attention by the Lord when you face Him?

You were simply afraid and didn't want to go to hell.

I was not stupid, so I went down front and got born again because the preacher's message also included scriptures about God's love and how it was NOT God's will for me to go to hell.

I don't know what the truth is.

What the Lord says in His Word IS Truth. You have been informed and are without excuse.

Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Jesus is clearly saying those that do not believe are damned.

What makes you think anyone can be saved through fear? Do you really believe the nature of your conversion won't be brought to your attention by the Lord when you face Him?

You wouldn't know because you just got finished acknowledging that you do not know what Truth is.

You are hardly in a position to be claiming what Jesus says are lies.

What the Lord says in His Word IS Truth. You have been informed and are without excuse.

@Riven. Please don’t blow this. There is such a thing as counterfeit Christianity. Let it walk. Focus your eyes and ears on Jesus.

Actually when Jesus states that we are to ACT on His word....
He means what He spoke about for 3.5 years....
HIS COMMANDS.

The light of God could be hidden by incorrect behavior by a believer toward others.

However, if you think insulting others is a good idea....then by all means follow your system...

1 Peter 1:22
Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,

I have never felt God's Spirit in church leaders or service members. Everyone seems content with a worldly spirit. After reading the Bible, I confirmed my concerns. To me, Western Christianity is a sect of book scribes focused on ideology, interpretations, and decoding prophecies. Eastern Christianity feels like a sect of idolatry, centered on icons and relics. Catholicism appears as a sect worshiping substitutes, such as the Pope, Mary, and its hierarchical structure.

Despite the Bible's simple, direct instructions—repentance, rebirth through the Spirit, self-denial, and following Yeshua (Jesus) toward the Heavenly Kingdom where we will meet God as our Father, which is the main goal—Christianity has created numerous barriers and excuses to avoid following these teachings. All churches exhibit these tendencies to varying degrees, and many members expect blessings or benefits from their beliefs. Protestant churches search for the best way to worship God, believing that uncovering hidden secrets in the Bible or finding the right interpretation will earn God's blessings. Catholics likely seek to be in the right place under the "holy organization," which they view as distributing blessings from God like humanitarian aid. The Orthodox Church competes with Catholicism, as if questioning which institution holds direct authority from God on Earth. Is it the one with grand buildings or abundant gold?

What about Judaism? They, too, seem unclear about what God wants from them and, like others, fail to recognize the greatest Treasure we can attain. Still, even an imperfect church is better than being agnostic or atheist. At least in a church, one can occasionally find a sense of common sense and God's wisdom.
I hear your pain, frustration, and honest wrestling. The church has failed many. It has built walls where there should be doors, created rules where there should be grace, and sometimes put men’s traditions above God’s Word. The Bible itself warns us that the body of Christ will be marred by false teachers, division, and idolatry (2 Timothy 3:1–5; Revelation 2–3).

But the gospel—the true gospel—is not about denominations, buildings, or perfect people. It’s about the radical call to repentance, new birth by the Spirit, and following Jesus alone (John 3:3–8; Luke 9:23). It’s about encountering the Living God who meets us where we are, transforms us from the inside out, and calls us into a kingdom that is not of this world (John 18:36).

The failures of men and institutions should never be the reason to reject Christ. If anything, they make the need for Him more urgent. The treasure you speak of—the hope, peace, and life that only Jesus offers—is still real. It’s still powerful. And it still changes hearts.

No church is perfect. But the One who builds His church—the One who said the gates of hell will not prevail against it—is alive and active today (Matthew 16:18).

If you’re still searching, I encourage you to keep seeking Him—not the system, not the labels, but the Son of God who loves you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3).

May the Spirit open your eyes and soften your heart, and may you find the true vine to abide in (John 15:5).

Not just an unbeliever. But an unbeliever with great taste in sit down comedy. :D

He was a great Irish comedian. I used to watch his show on television with my mother when I was a teenager. He always (or almost always) closed his show like this:

I still remember when it finally dawned on me one night what he was doing with his signature closing line. I turned to my mother and with a “Hey, wait a minute …” look on my face, said: “Did he just say what I think he said?“ She looked at me for a minute and then busted out laughing. So did I. Man, was I naive.
