I have just ate fish and chips from the chippy with mushy peas and curry sauce.

whats your favourite meal you really enjoy(if you cook it) or your bestest take away restaurant you just love to dine at?

I live in the UK so fish and chips is standard cuisine and its an art form to batter the fish crispy enough not to make you ill afterwards haha

Also eating a healthy diet but made a great curry this week. I used lamb shank - more collagen than muscle meat therefore healthier. Pressure cooked.

For the sauce I cheated as I normally cook from scratch but one by The Curry Sauce Co. Balti, Restaurant Quality was top notch. I made brown basmati rice, finely chopped salad and popadoms made a really yummy meal.

Can’t beat chips from the chippy, we have one just round the corner so I have to be careful and have them as a treat every now and then. Love mushy peas xxxxx
I like lots of foods, but I guess my favourite treat would be a chinese take away

All the food mentioned by you all sounds great. I'm getting hungry.

I sometimes make chili, it's tasty and lasts me about four meals.

I got out of the habit of food takeout after the Pandemic. But I love Indian food, maybe a little more than Chinese now. I have Bangladesh and Indian friends so they introduced me to that food.

Baked chicken and fries and baked fish and fries are my staples. I love southern cooking. So once a week I have collared greens and every day I have beans of some sort. Mainly pintos, baby limas, butter beans, and blackeyed peas.

I enjoy fish and chips and my husband and I used to get a take-away bag offish and chips to share on a bench in the precinct. Last Friday I went with my son, daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter and great grandson to the chippy for our tea. It's a posh chip restaurant with a pianist and we went there for fish and chips after my husbands funeral because he loved going there.

Favourite thing to cook? Not sure but possibly bean soup.

I like Greek shawarma (sp?) I make the pitas from scratch and then we add olives, bitter herbs (cilantro, parsley), grilled chicken or beef with a yogurt lime sauce.

My own version of a power bowl from Taco Bell or a green pizza with a pesto sauce and lots of marinated artichoke hearts.

I thought you might be from the UK, particularly with your mushy peas and curry sauce. I love fish and chips too, but just with tartar and tomato sauce.

I also like Chinese takeaway ie: sweet and sour pork, wontons, and chicken fried rice.

I love mushy peas and I absolutely adore chinese take away ( sweet and sour chicken and chow mein )
I have found that Chinese dishes can be called the same but taste different. Chinese meals in Germany don’t have exactly the same flavour as they do in the U.K.

The best fish and chips I have had was cooked in Lard in Scotland.
Back in the day Kentucky Fried Chicken was boasted and cooked in Lard. Much better.

God old lard, we use to use that for frying all the time. I have noticed that Kentucky fried chicken doesn’t taste the same as it use to - still good though.
I use to also love the free ‘ left overs ‘ from the fish and chip shop, all the crispy bits from the chips - doubt they do that now, but as kids with very little pocket money left , it was great.

The are starting to say that lard is better for you than a lot of the stuff they are frying in now a days.

Olive oil is what is stated as the best at the moment in the U.K., mind you I think fried food is frowned upon anyway - more so as you get older. I now have to limit what I can eat due to blood pressure ( although it’s okay since being careful ) and I am pre diabetic.
I don’t even know if they sell lard anymore, have to look next time I go shopping

I remember when they came out with Oleo, Olestra, oil for manufacture of potato chips back in the 1990's.
It went right through you. Eat chips , butt-leak Olestra.

Wait till the side effects hit in those drinking 'no sugar' sodas.

We had fish and chips a short while ago, loved it.

I only like fried halibut though, no cod or shark meat for me thanks. We have something called "dog fish" here which closely resembles cod and no one can tell the difference really, "dog fish" are bottom feeder sharks here. They dine in the lower areas of the ocean.

Halibut is pure white meat, cod has this fishy oil taste in the fat area of the meat.

Cheers,

Devin
