In the news this month, much heated discussion over Congressioanl redistricting and perverse gerrymandering.

Politicians at loggerheads, all declaring “an eye for an eye, . . . .”

That is Old Testament speak. What would Christians recommend as a fair solution?

(Note: not interested in the typical “not our monkeys, not our circus”: be a peace maker. )

Note: Romans 13:1—Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God.

Those whose answers merely demonize various politicians will be cast into the outer darkness, where there is gnashing of teeth.

Blessings.

I live in CA, where Gov. Newsom is threatening to gerrymander our districts, intentionally depriving the citizens of CA our constitutional right to fair representation in government. So he should be held accountable for violating my civil rights.

Is there a Christian recommendation? Do redistricting in the right way for the right reason, that is, fairly, with the intent that our representation accurately reflects the population.

The Bible's answer? Use equal weights in the marketplace, not trying to gain advantage at another's expense.

Much love!

I live in Texas where Gov. Hot Wheels is doing the same thing, I agree with your bible answer, however I don't blame Gov. Newsom for standing up for what's right and other blue states (prayerfully TX will become one real soon) should join him. demographics here are changing and that is exactly what the Rep. party is afraid of.

You think Newsom in the right on this? I don't. The democrat party is as evil as their predecessors. Not that all democrats are evil, the but the overall goals and methods of the Dem party show their evil nature.

Much love!

Newsom is planning to call a special election and ask voters to decide if they want to keep the current system or change it so they can redistrict ahead of the '26 midterms. What's the problem with that? It seems a lot better than what Abbott is doing in Texas with no input at all from voters. Trump and Abbott started this, you have them to thank.

In California, with our corrupted "mail in voting", well, do you know why it always takes CA weeks to count the votes? Saying it's going to the voters doesn't mean anything here. They rig it however they want.

Follow the history. It was the mid 90's when mail in voting with universal. Within a few years the blue shift began, until now we have a democrat deadlock on our government, with dem governor, dem legislature, and it shows in the horrible government of the state.

Give us one real election, this state will turn red so fast your head will spin around in circles

Okay. That doesn't have anything to do with the points I brought up but yeah, whatever.

You are saying Newsom is being fair because he's putting it to a vote. I'm saying that's disengenuous for him, because I believe CA's elections are rigged through the universal mail in voting.

So when he say's "let the voters decide", he's planning to steal the vote like they have so many times.

I'm really hoping Trump will call this state to account for it's elections, and to make them real and fair.

Much love!

Newsom is just leveling the field, if Rep. Gov. Hotwheels here in TX can pull his shenanigans, what did he expect from Dem. states? and before we label anybody evil for defending our Democracy, take the beam out your eye, so that you see what ones are doing to destroy it! Much Love

Not when the Word of God states that we are to be our brother's keeper and love our neighbors, it may come as a surprise to you but that neighbor, that brother, is not the one that necessarily lives in your neighborhood, and that bro/sis is not your biological ones, we are to pray and help those that are in need, that will cause you to take a stand, or take a seat to fight injustice. Read Ezekiel 18:1-13, 31-32 , as Christians we need to be aware of behavior that is harmful to the life of a community

Absolutely! even BAD ones, to bring His people back to obedience, God will allow challenging leadership to test the faith and faithfulness of His people, they can be instrumental in fulfilling prophecies. Our nation has turned away from Him and has embraced sin, this administration is a form of judgment. I will remain faithful unto my Lord and will stand against injustices

Is Newsom ever leaving office? It seems like he's been there for a decade .

The recall should have solved that problem but he's still there.

Those whose answers merely demonize various politicians will be cast into the outer darkness, where there is gnashing of teeth.

Blessings.
They need to repeal the Reapportionment Act of 1929 - the legislation that caps the number of reps at 435.

This would result in the Constitutional requirement of one congressman for each 30,000 citizens being enforced - about 11,000 Congressmen. You'd have to repeal the requirement of physical presence as well, but 11,000 people could attend sessions via Internet rather easily.

With districts of 30K, it would be significantly harder to gerrymander.

For those who may not know:

Redistricting is the process of redrawing the boundaries of electoral districts, typically occurring every ten years after the census to reflect population changes. This process determines how many representatives each area has and can significantly impact political representation. roseinstitute.org bipartisanpolicy.org

It just seems like forever!

Yes, the recall should have solved it, but not with our rigged elections.

Trump has announced he's going to try to get rid of the mail in ballots and counting machines. I sure hope so!

Much love!
