You’re tossing Scripture out the window but not using it properly. 1 Samuel 8 isn’t God commanding His people to avoid civic responsibility; it’s God calling Israel out on their sin of rejecting Him as King. That passage is about demanding a monarchy out of rebellion, not participating in a republic where citizens are called to use wisdom and exercise responsibility. Romans 13 is crystal clear that God Himself ordains our governing authorities and Jesus Himself said, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s” (Matthew 22:21). That means we don’t get to wash our hands and refuse involvement when decisions are being made that affect righteousness in a nation.

You want to pretend as if sitting on the sidelines and not choosing is some elevated stance, but in truth refusing to use your voice and resist evil when you have opportunity is not faithfulness, it’s negligence. Proverbs 29: 2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” That means it matters who is in rule and what policies they advance. No, my hope is not in man, it is in Christ alone, but while I’m here I will use the influence God has given me to oppose evil. Spin it however you like, but the Bible never tells us to be silent while sin is exalted.
