Here's
1 Corinthians 11:27-29
New International Version
For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.

For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of Christ, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself.

We don't get to decide that a "symbol" of his body and blood is okey dokey especially since it contradicts what Jesus literally said and is restated by Paul
It's not just doctrine gg it's what God said just like the first passover. Stop this foolishness
I happen to agree...after many years of going back and forth, it does seem logical to me.
Mostly based on the fact that Jesus did NOT call back those walking away because it was a difficult saying,,,
but let them go instead and doubled down on His statement.
But, as you see, even 1 Corinthians can be translated to mean something totally different.
For instance, receiving unworthily.
Some came to the communion table drunk, overeating and disorderly, as if they were having a normal meal.
This was disrespect of Jesus death.
Verse 27
We are not to receive communion when in serious sin.
Verse 28
Verse 29 Discerning the body, or the Lord's body. The Cup of Blessing.
The 3rd ritual cup of wine served at Passover.
This is the cup Jesus consecrated at the Last Supper representing the New Covenant.
The Eucharist unites the body of God with all believers.
1 Corinthians 12:12
12 The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
We are united together by the Body of Jesus INTO the Body of believers.
I believe that only the Holy Spirit can convince someone as to the Eucharist...
Some believe it's the body and blood of Christ.
Some believe in the Real Presence.
Some believe it is only a symbol of something that took place.
A persons salvation does not depend on what he believes about communion.
