The throne of David was never in the heavens. It is and was always an earthly throneIs that what Peter said? Scripture's last word regarding David's throne was his.
That's what I said: they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
That's not what Peter said. The throne of David was never in the heavens. It is and was always an earthly throne
Peter disagrees with you in Acts 2:29-36, saying: “Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; he seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ” (Acts 2:25-31).The throne of David was never in the heavens. It is and was always an earthly throne
Yes, I agree, the passage clearly states that God would raise up Christ to sit on the throne of David. Since we have a clear historical and biblical record of where David's throne was located, we know that this must refer to a future physical kingdom in the Millennium. David's throne was never a heavenly one.Peter disagrees with you in Acts 2:29-36, saying: “Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Peter doesn't say David's throne is in the heavens....he simply says God will raise Christ up to sit on it. This happens in the Millennial kingdom. You are reading something into the text that is not there. That's not what Peter said.
He said that it has been in the heavens since Jesus' Resurrection.
Scripture's last word regarding David's throne is Peter's.
You'll have to argue with Peter.
Hint: You'll lose.![]()
You're not getting it. It is not talking about a literal physical stone throne. It is long gone. It is talking about the kingship of David - Israel's true kingship. It is talking about Him assuming David's place of authority over true Israel.Yes, I agree, the passage clearly states that God would raise up Christ to sit on the throne of David. 1) Where was David's throne located? What did it include?
2 Sa 3:10 To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beer-sheba.
2)Who, besides David, sat on it?
1 Ki 2:45 And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord for ever.
1 Ki 2:24 Now therefore, as the Lord liveth, which hath established me, and set me(Solomon) on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day.
Jer 22:2 And say, Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:
You see Paul, Historic Premillennialism uses actual scripture to defend it's position. It doesn't need some obsolete cherry picked metaphoric terminology to prove it's point ;)

The old covenant setup in regard to the kings of Israel was an imperfect permissive rule that was pointing to the truth heavenly fulfillment in Christ - Israel's real king. The earthly pointed to the heavenly. The temporal pointed to the eternal. The visible pointed to the invisible. The imperfect pointed to the perfect. The type pointed to the anti-type.Yes, I agree, the passage clearly states that God would raise up Christ to sit on the throne of David. Never on THIS earth, it is right there in the text, it is on the NEW earth.
The 'first earth and first heaven pass away', they are GONE, never to be seen again.
They flee from the Face of God and are found no where.
Only on this new earth does God dwell together with His people in the New Jerusalem, never the old, first earth for 1000 years.
That throne was destroyed more than two millennia ago, and there is not the slightest hint from those or any other Scriptures that it will reappear.Peter doesn't say David's throne is in the heavens....he simply says God will raise Christ up to sit on it. Read post #1408, 1410Disagree.
Busy now, will have to respond later.
How does quoting Rev 1:7 prove that Christ physically returns to THIS earth to establish the Kingdom of God HERE for one thousand years?
When Christ returns with the clouds and every eye shall see Him it won't be to set up an earthly kingdom!
Because when He returns this earth and everything still living upon it shall be utterly burned up, then ALL things shall be made new again on the new earth that shall be AFTER this first earth passes away!
Revelation 21:1-5 (KJV) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
If you don't learn from the Scriptures, where or who has taught you the unbiblical doctrines you cling to?
You make no distinction between the earth that now is, that is destined to utter destruction, and the new earth that shall be when Christ comes again. You cannot distinguish between what is and what is to come because you are fixated upon the physical and lack ability to understand the Kingdom of God is NOT of THIS earth and shall NEVER be physically upon THIS earth, not even for one thousand years! For His Kingdom shall not be inhabited by mortal flesh and blood, for the Kingdom of God is a spiritual Kingdom where immortality and incorruption dwells FOREVER!
