Just curious, I was looking to see if there was a way to either filter out (or block) certain forums from showing up when I click on "whats new" is that possible?

Or even if not, if there was perhaps a way to just chose which forums (preferred ones) would show up for me, because that would be great too.

With all those buttons to click in the preferences maybe I am overlooking that button as an option or maybe its not given as an option, that could be the case too.

You can hit the "Watch" button at the top of a thread to keep an eye on conversations but I don't think the forum can filter anything but I'm not really sure. I'll add @lforrest.

If you use Firefox, you can use the uBlock Origin extension to filter out almost anything you want.

I dont use that, and I wouldnt know how to do that, I just thought it was a click away thing I could perform here.

For example, "which forums would you like to see come up for you"? And I would chose a few of them only, or "what forums do you chose not to come up for you"? And I would chose which ones not to see. Then click finish and done, no more seeing those forums for the rest of my life lol
