Your verse is talking to Jews who are not Christians.......as Jesus had not died on The Cross in your verse.
So, Jesus teaches about a future event that will never occur?
In your book, Jesus
erred? Not possible.
In fact, Jesus teaches the same thing after the Cross.
Revelation 22
12“Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done.
Paul, wonder of all wonders, teaches the same (and it's after the resurrection) :
Romans 2
6who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS
DEEDS:
7to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality,
eternal life;
8but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.
9There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek,
10but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
So, both teach eternal life is rendered to
DOERS OF GOOD.
You reject that--that's your problem, not mine.
So, the only way to "Do good", so that God will accept you, is to "obey the Gospel"...which is to Believe it.
So, you agree with me that only the doers of good will be resurrected to life (the thing you just argued against)?
Your verse, is Jesus talking about Himself., and He was sinless.
You are not Him, as you have sinned.

Choose your verses more carefully.
John 20
"As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
So, the words selected by the Spirit are not accidental : John 8:29 says "he who sent me is with me because I always do the things that please Him" because it now applies to us who are sent just as He was sent (ie, He is with us if we do what is pleasing to Him), as I proved when He says "he who keeps My commands loves me, and ... I will reveal Myself to him", He will be with them, because they are pleasing Him by keeping His commands which are eternal life which is to know God through Christ revealing Himself to you because you love Him and keep His commands.
Yes, "His commandment" is eternal life if you do it........as this is God's Will.
God's Will is that "everyone believe in Jesus".
John 15
12“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
This is just as John teaches :
1 John 3
23And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.
So, the commandment is singular : believe AND love one another. You cannot separate the two, as you wish to do.
Now, Paul says "faith works by love", hence "each man must be fully convinced in his own mind" to remain in God's justifying righteousness, which is "from faith to faith" (Ro 1:17), and the one who does not is not justified, but is "condemned" (Ro 14:23), proving he is not abiding in Christ in Whom there is "no condemnation" (Ro 8:1), as John also teaches.
John 15
4“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither
can you unless you abide in Me.
5“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
6“If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.
7“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
8“My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and
so prove to be My disciples.
9“Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.
10“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
1 John 3
24Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.
Your verse does not say that keeping commandments, is Salvation.
You actually believe you can be "saved", yet resurrected to condemnation instead of life (taught by both post-resurrection Jesus in Revelation 22 and post-resurrection Paul in Romans 2)?
Yes, Jesus IS Eternal Life., and Jesus said that if you Believe in Him......He will "give you eternal Life".
A.) Jesus is Salvation
I have equally asserted, and provided Scriptures, that Jesus said obeying His commands is eternal life.
John 5:28...those who have DONE good to the resurrection of life, and those who have DONE evil to the resurrection of judgment.
John 8:29And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always DO THE THINGS that are pleasing to him.
John 12:50 And I know that HIS COMMANDMENT IS ETERNAL LIFE. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.
John 14:21Whoever has my COMMANDMENTS and KEEPS them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.
John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
