In Revelation 7, we read about twelve tribes being sealed:
This event happened long ago as we read in the Book of Ezekiel:
Those that had the Mark were not harmed:
Revelation often points back to the Old Testament to sort of 'fill in the blanks' and reveal deeper meanings.
Some believe Revelation 7 is still future, however this is impossible since the tribes listed no longer exist. For example, Revelation 7:6 mentions the Tribe of Aser/Asher:
A quick search online verifies the obvious:
What about the tribe of Simeon?
The list goes on.
And without a Temple to atone for sin, the chances of these tribes existing today as being holy and undefiled are zero.
Christians need to stop putting prophecy into a 'futuristic rubbish bin' and begin to appreciate the rich and wonderful history that already happened in the Old Testament. Let Scripture interpret Scripture.
Revelation 7:4 - "And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel."
This event happened long ago as we read in the Book of Ezekiel:
Ezekiel 9:3-4 - "And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer’s inkhorn by his side; And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof."
Those that had the Mark were not harmed:
Ezekiel 9:6 - "Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house."
