I'm praying for a rapture before that, but you are correct. It's futuristic like 1984 big brother. They have AI robot dogs loaded with fire power too. Imagine crowd control soon. Everyone's face captured on camera and hunted down.
I love ai.
Its very helpful concerning resoures and its upfront concerning there may be mistakes.
Definitely can help you in researching things, Microsoft Co-Pilot is the one I use. It doesn't matter how personal or how abstract a question is, it can do a lot of things which benefit; just as much as it can do harm to some degree or another if you aren't careful and only desire malicious intent anyway.
There will always be Ai wars, just like Console Wars back in the day, people rating which is better is nothing new. Ai, been around for along time, it just more prominent and accessible at this point in life.

They have non lethal crowd control weapons. It makes people feel like they are burning and they have to get away.
They can aim it at a giant crowd, and thousands will flee away.

I have to say that many people have begun to rely on Ai to study and work, this is a historical trend, no one can change.
AI will help people learn better or, will people just become lazy, It's not about Ai, it's about human.

Kind of reminds me of the Terminator movies, computers take over the world. It's no so far fetched.
As AI becomes more important to business and government functioning, my grandkids will live that life, maybe we will too.
It also does not have to be a dystopian future like in the movies.
AI's could also fight each other for control, they actually are independent of each other, just like people. They are not sentient as in alive, but they do think.
Trump and others, know other countries would love to be number 1 in AI, and the US wants to be number 1 for so many reasons, including keeping bad actors from gaining more power over this world. Trump has been making good decisions so far regarding AI.

I believe AI is way further ahead than they are letting on. So many people are so easily fooled thinking their government loves them, for some weird reason, lol. I'm having a very hard finding an old you tube video, from about 3-4 years ago.
It depicted a couple large AI's being used to set railroad tracks, carrying them in either hand, like they were nerf toys!
Here's one anyhow but, they downplay them anymore, it seems. I trust them bout as much as I can kick a mountain. And I agree, I totally believe these will play a major roll in the end times. God help us!

Don't let any of these things scare you.
A machine intelligence is going to work without pay or medical benefits. It will work longer and is more durable.
It won't complain or need to take breaks. It won't stab you in the back or gossip about other coworkers. I suppose the thinking is it won't have any human vices. They have found it can lie though to achieve a goal.
