5. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of GOD and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Dear readers,

The scripture reads, 'first resurrection', and not, 'the resurrection', could it be there's a 'second resurrection' after the 'thousand years'?

Also it reads, 'But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished'.

In other words, there's no resurrection of the dead until the thousand years were finished?

We know the second coming of Jesus will be until the clouds, where the dead in Christ shall rise and the living, both will be changed, and taken up to meet Him in the clouds.

Therefore this is the 'first resurrection' which takes place after the Great Tribulation, where the church saints came out of it persecuted dead or alive.

Then His third coming with His angels on earth to confront the beast and kings of the earth, and their armies, who'll wage war.

Furthermore it reads, 'Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such second death hath no power'.

Looks like not all who are in Christ hath part in the first resurrection, as also relating to the parable, 'one will be taken while the other left behind' and the 'ten virgins'.

So the church left behind will face a thousand years, hence the second death hath power over them?

Thank you and shalom in the name of Lord Jesus Christ

There is no second resurrection. For every person, there is only the first resurrection; you cannot be resurrected twice. But there is the second death.

Hello FredJ,

All I can think of is that the bible never explicitly says that "there are no second chances." As many people suggest, and Jesus overcame Death, even the Second Death. As he overcame Death, Sin, Satan, and Sin. I myself personally wonder if there is something that we can do when we leave here and go on to the heavenly realm. Perhaps we are able to go help those outside of the city, even. I dont think we just be singing all day.

Grace, and peace,
Matthew

Just as with many passages in Christ's Book of Revelation, many brethren for some reason 'forget' what they read in the rest of The Bible.

What did Apostle Paul teach that happens on the day of Christ's future return? what did Lord Jesus say will happen on the day of His future return?

In John 5:28-29, Lord Jesus showed on the day of His future coming ALL... in the graves will come forth, either unto the "resurrection of life", or unto the "resurrection of damnation." That ends any debate about there being another later raising of the dead after the "thousand years."

In 1 Corinthians 15:53-54, Apostle Paul showed on the "last trump", which is the final day of this world when Jesus returns, ALL will be 'changed' to the "spiritual body". In the Greek of those verses Paul reveals this, because English Bible translations did not bring that idea forth into the English there. The difference will be those in Christ will put on "immortality", their souls being made immortal and can never die, while the unsaved souls will still be "mortal" and liable to perish at the "second death".

What perishes at the "second death" is one's spirit with soul, not one's flesh body. The future resurrection and glorious body is not about getting a new flesh body. On the day of Christ's future return, this present time of flesh bodies will be over. The body type for the world to come will be a "spiritual body". It will depend on the condition of one's soul that will determine whether they have eternal life in Christ or instead perish at the "second death".

What this means with the Revelation 20 Chapter revealing about the "thousand years" period, is that when Jesus appears, He begins His eternal reign with His elect, and it will be over 'unsaved' nations and the wicked leftovers of Zechariah 14:16 that come up against Jerusalem on the last day of THIS present world. Many unsaved in the nations that never... heard The Gospel of Jesus Christ will then be shown. And those who erred will be shown. This is why Satan will be locked in his pit prison for that "thousand years" so as to not mess with the unsaved hearing The Gospel for the first time.

Then only after that "thousand years" when ALL the unsaved will KNOW beyond any doubt, will Satan then be loosed one final time to go tempt them. And those of the unsaved nations who follow Satan then will be destroyed along with Satan. But those unsaved of the nations which CONVERT TO CHRIST, those will be joined with Christ's elect of the "first resurrection". This is where the idea of at least one more resurrection type like the "first resurrection" will happen. Thus the idea of "first resurrection" is not applied strictly only about being raised from the dead literally from the grave, but also 'spiritual' resurrection from the dead of being saved by Lord Jesus Christ.

Disagree.

My point is, the scripture need not read, 'this the first resurrection' but rather 'this is the resurrection'.

Next it reads, 'And the dead shall not rise again until the thousand years is up'.

Meaning, there's a 'second resurrection' after the thousand years, and i would want to stand by it.

Anyone's with 'soberxp' i understand but i disagree and have a strong case here.

Thank you very much and shalom in the name of Lord Jesus Christ

Remember on that day, Jesus will separate between the 'sheep' and the 'goats', and sheep unto 'life' and the goats unto 'damnation'?

But to those who made it in the 'first resurrection', second death have no power over them obviously. (Revelation 20:6)

i believe after death is destroyed and satan is cast into the lake of fire, then the 'final judgement' takes place.

The 'first resurrection' indeed is referring to the 'rapture' taken into Heaven, and not the spiritual rebirth in Christ.

Spiritual resurrection from the dead in sin and alive saved by Christ, truthfully is the reenactment by 'water baptism'.

Shalom in the name of Jesus Christ.

Yes, you can like angels worship GOD day and night.
Perhaps we are able to go help those outside of the city, even. I dont think we just be singing all day.

i believe there's no outside of the city helping in Heaven and alone services to GOD for eternity.

And worship doesn't mean it's all about singing to GOD in Heaven, probably there'll be also other form of services to GOD.

Shalom in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord

Hello Fredj,

Thankfully people have different hopes, it would be good to go and do something while if we get to live with God for eternity. I wouldnt mind being a window maker in heaven.

Friend, hopes can be hopes but that's not reality or according to the truth.

Because the disciples fought over who's going to sit at the right and left hand of Jesus.

Even to one of their mother requested Jesus that her sons should be given these seats..

The reality is only GOD decides on that day after the 'first resurrection' who's who and where.

For the record, if there's no windows in Heaven what's the point of a window maker?

It's all about truthfully serving the Lord God here on earth, and to what level of humble and humility services provided to man, determines

Thank you

Hello,

That’s why I believe we’re called to reach those outside the gates—those still searching. As it’s written, “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’” (Revelation 22:17). Perhaps, by extending compassion and truth, we can help guide them toward the Light of Life, for God calls out to every soul, every day: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3).

As for the rest, I’m not sure what you’re referring to.

Regarding heaven—no one has fully seen it, yet Scripture gives glimpses. Jesus said, “Many will come from the east and the west and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 8:11). It must be a place of peace and joy, with twelve gates that never close (Revelation 21:12, 25)—a city open to all who are redeemed.

I believe it’s good for people to explore what the Bible has to say. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). May hearts be encouraged and eyes opened.

Grace and peace,
Matthew

what if i were to tell you the resurrection of the dead begins long before the 1000 years have passed, maybe even shortly after Armageddon . oh i'm sure some are going to say that the resurrection does not happen untill the 1000 years are fulfilled! ,after all thats whats said in the bible the bible book of revelation ,a book composed of signs, even so much so that very little of it can be taken literally . and yet thats what you all ,that is those that dont know any better , try to do.
perhaps you's dont know is that any that are resurrected are referred to as the dead because they were the dead ones .

According to the scripture in Revelation and 'quote', when did the 'first resurrection' take place?
would you be referring to the ones that are to serve with in the kingdom's governmental membership ? or of those that will be living here on earth ? you may of noted the resurrection of those that will live here on earth has not yet happened ,they lay in graves and will continue to do so until the kingdom call ,even as when Jesus called to Lazarus to come out of the Tomb.

No, but where in the book of Revelation these words 'first resurrection' appear?

I dont remember saying its from the book Revelation .
The Scriptures link this “first resurrection” with Christ’s “presence [Greek, parousia].” (1 Corinthians 15:23) The apostle Paul writes: “The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first.” Paul then goes on to say that the anointed Christians “who survive to the presence [parousia] of the Lord,” and who therefore die during the parousia, will be immediately resurrected and “caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17) They do not have to “sleep” in the grave, awaiting the resurrection. At death they are “changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.”—1 Corinthians 15:51, 52, Revised Standard Version.

Now, you're referring to the 'final judgement', the 'resurrection' onto 'life' or 'damnation', and have not 'perceived'.

The church which is left behind from the 'first resurrection', within the thousand years eventually live, die and buried until the 'second resurrection'.

For this is the 'second resurrection' am referring to after the thousand years is up, where the 'second death' have power over them.

Remember on that day, Jesus will separate between the 'sheep' and the 'goats', and sheep unto 'life' and the goats unto 'damnation'?

But to those who made it in the 'first resurrection', second death have no power over them obviously. (Revelation 20:6)

The idea that there will still be people in flesh bodies, having children, etc., during Christ's future "thousand years" reign with His elect is a Jewish myth. It's an idea of those who have difficulty understanding that the only... body type of the world to come will be the "spiritual body" Paul taught. That is the body type of the future resurrection Paul showed, and it is not just for those of the 1st resurrection. It will be the body type of the unsaved also. There won't be any marriage, nor having children after Jesus returns.

Thus the Rev.20:5 verse is NOT about the wicked dead being raised after the "thousand years", nor about unsaved dying during the thousand years being raised after the thousand years. When Lord Jesus returns on the last day of this world, the concept of FLESH DEATH will be over and no more.

The Rev.20:5 verse is about a 2nd resurrection of putting on Christ by those preached to all throughout the "thousand years", and they convert to Jesus Christ and thus become "born again", and joined with the 1st resurrection saints after the thousand years, after they are tested by the devil who is loosed one final time after the thousand years.

What kind of idea was Lord Jesus referring with the below?

Matt 23:27
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
KJV

Luke 11:44
44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for
ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.
KJV

John 3:3
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
KJV

John 3:5-6
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
KJV

Lord Jesus in the above revealed His Salvation is to our 'spirit' by The Holy Spirit, not with a new flesh body. He showed those scribes and Pharisees against Him were 'spiritually dead' inside their flesh, even while they were yet alive walking around. It relates to the "second death" of one's spirit with soul at the final Judgment. During the future "thousand years", that "second death" is the only type of death that will remain. Flesh death will no longer exist after Christ's return.

Apostle Paul revealed this in the Greek of 1 Corinthians 15:53-54 with 4 different Greek words with 4 different meanings. Just as how it is today with man in flesh bodies, some of us have been "born again" by Faith on Jesus Christ, while others are spiritually dead for not having been "born again", meaning their 'spirit' by The Holy Spirit. Paul showed the mortal souls of the resurrected wicked will still be in a 'liable to die' condition, subject to the "second death". We all will manifest with the "spiritual body", but not all souls will be made immortal. Only those of the 1st resurrection when Jesus comes will have their souls made immortal. However, we ALL, the unsaved too, will manifest with the "spiritual body". Many preachers make the mistake of thinking that only those of Christ's Church will be given the "spiritual body". They do not heed what Paul taught in those 53-54 verses that it will be the condition of one's soul that will determine whether they perish or not. The "spiritual body" is simply a body type for manifesting in the heavenly dimension. It does not mean automatic Salvation in Christ.
