What does the Bible say about elect angels?
Definition and Identity of “Elect Angels”
The expression “elect angels” appears directly in
1 Timothy 5:21: “I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels to keep these instructions without partiality and to do nothing out of favoritism.”
1 Timothy 5:21 (YLT) I testify fully,
before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the choice messengers, that these things thou mayest keep, without forejudging, doing nothing by partiality.
Psalm 148:2-5 depicts them as created beings who join all creation in praising God. The same passage clarifies that God Himself brought them into existence: “Let them praise the name of the LORD, for He commanded and they were created”.
Psalm 148:1-5 (YLT) Praise ye Jah! Praise ye Jehovah from the heavens, Praise ye Him in high places.
Praise ye Him, all His messengers, Praise ye Him, all His hosts. Praise ye Him, sun and moon, Praise ye Him, all stars of light. Praise ye Him, heavens of heavens, And ye waters that are above the heavens. They do praise the name of Jehovah, For He commanded, and they were created.
In
Isaiah 6:2-3, the seraphim cry, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts; all the earth is full of His glory!”.
Seraphim are not defined as angels of God.

Revelation 5:11-12 portrays a multitude of angels praising the Lamb.
I would argue this is a depiction of the fullness of heaven as it shall be through the slain Lamb, with all the redeemed of God through the blood of the Lamb. They are "many messengers" and living creatures, and elders numbering myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a great voice "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive the power, and the riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing!" And `To Him who is sitting upon the throne, and to the Lamb,
is the blessing, and the honour, and the glory, and the might--to the ages of the ages!' and the four living creatures said, `Amen!' and the twenty-four elders fell down and they bow before Him who is living to the ages of the ages.
Revelation 5:1-5 (YLT) And I saw upon the right hand of
Him who is sitting upon the throne a scroll, written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals; and I saw a strong messenger crying with a great voice, `Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose the seals of it?' and no one was able in the heaven, nor upon the earth, nor under the earth, to open the scroll, nor to behold it. And
I was weeping much, because no one was found worthy to open and to read the scroll, nor to behold it, and
one of the elders saith to me,
`Weep not; lo, overcome did the Lion, who is of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, to open the scroll, and to loose the seven seals of it;
Revelation 5:6-14 (YLT) and I saw, and lo, in the midst of the throne, and of the four living creatures, and
in the midst of the elders, a Lamb hath stood as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the Seven Spirits of God, which are sent to all the earth, and he came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who is sitting upon the throne. And when he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell before the Lamb, having each one harps and golden vials full of perfumes, which are the prayers of the saints, and they sing a new song, saying, `Worthy art thou to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it,
because thou wast slain, and didst redeem us to God in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, and didst make us to our God kings and priests, and we shall reign upon the earth.' And I saw, and I heard the voice of many messengers round the throne, and the living creatures, and the elders--and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands-- saying with a great voice, `Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing!' and every creature that is in the heaven, and in the earth, and under the earth, and the things that are upon the sea, and the all things in them, heard I saying, `To Him who is sitting upon the throne, and to the Lamb,
is the blessing, and the honour, and the glory, and the might--to the ages of the ages!' and the four living creatures said, `Amen!' and the twenty-four elders fell down and they bow before Him who is living to the ages of the ages.
The word “angel” means “messenger.” They frequently carry divine messages, as seen in
Luke 1:26-38, where Gabriel announces the birth of Jesus to Mary. Similarly, angels communicate warnings or support to God’s people, often with miraculous timing.
Here the word "messenger" is referring to Gabriel, defined an archangel of God. The context leaves no doubt that Gabriel is a spirit, not human being. A ministering spirit of God sent to minister to heirs of salvation. Mary being among the chosen elect of God to give birth to Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:26 (YLT) And in the sixth month was
the messenger Gabriel sent by God, to a city of Galilee, the name of which
is Nazareth.
Luke 1:30-33 (YLT) And
the messenger said to her, `Fear not, Mary, for
thou hast found favour with God; and lo,
thou shalt conceive in the womb, and shalt bring forth a son, and call his name Jesus; he shall be great, and Son of the Highest he shall be called, and the Lord God shall give him the throne of David his father, and he shall reign over the house of Jacob to the ages; and of his reign there shall be no end.'
