[Ephesians 5:2-7 KJV] "2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them."

I have heard from those who say if we commit the things listed we will lose salvation and face wrath. I don't see that upon examining the surrounding verses. Our salvation doesn't depend on us, but rather the redemption and the righteousness of Christ. Consider this verse.......[Ephesians 5:3 KJV] 3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;........Paul is not saying if you commit this behavior you will be condemned to Hell, but rather he is saying not to engage in this behavior because it doesn't reflect who you are in Christ.........[Ephesians 5:3, 7 KJV] 3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; ... 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.........we aren't said to lose our salvation, but are admonished not to be like them.

I'm new here, but in my 78 years I've been involved in several bulletin boards since 1995 and this questions almost always boils down to deciding who is and who is not really saved. Can you lose salvation? To the person who says no, they simply say the person wasn't really saved in the first place.
Since we can not know a person's heart as Jesus does, I don't think we can answer that.

Well the bible does give us the answers. If one is saved they cannot perish as jesus declared.

If one appeared saved but go to teh lake of fire, 3 places in Scripture say they never were saved to egin with.

Matt. 7:21-23

Matt. 7:21-23: - I Never Knew You

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Matt. 13:24-30 (parable form)

Matt. 13:24-30: - The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares

24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” ’ ”

1 John 2:19

1 John 2:18-23: - Deceptions of the Last Hour

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
