No Doug, an invention of men that do not want you to enter Heaven as they themselves will not. Falsely interpreting scripture to give it another meaning or diminish the meaning is not from God I am certain of this, I hope that with time you will see this, the words of Christ are simple and clear and require no interpretations His words are Life and from them all else must be tested. I will explain again since I see you do make an effort to unserstand and come to the truth;Jesus certainly did divide scripture to different times..............[Luk 4:21 KJV] "And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.".........he said that it was fulfilled THIS DAY...............[Isa 61:2 KJV] "To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;"...........he did not say THE DAY of vengeance was fulfilled THIS DAY, it will be as you say fulfilled in a different day. How is this not saying scripture wont be fulfilled at a different time? This is an example of dispensations. It is also an example of right division he only applied half a sentence.
Jesus did command different rules. Here is an example........[Mat 10:5 KJV] "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into [any] city of the Samaritans enter ye not:",,,,,,He said dont go to Gentiles and later he said to go to them................[Mat 28:19 KJV] "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"
[Mat 28:20 KJV] "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen."
Those that heard Jesus read Isaiah, if they rightly divided that verse, would not say the day of vengeance was for them; it was to be applied to another generation and another time.
Here is the reason I asked if you sacrificed animals. I certainly didnt think you did, nor should anyone today. My point was you, by not sacrificing, are rightly dividing scripture. You are saying the commandment to offer sacrifices was not for me to obey; it was for old testament Israel.
The first mistake in the argument is the idea that when Jesus stopped reading Isaiah in the synagogue, He was “rightly dividing” in the modern dispensational nonsense. That is not what He was doing, and Scripture explains why.
Luke 4:21 says, “This day this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
Jesus spoke this because only the first part of Isaiah 61 had come to pass at His first coming. He was anointed to preach, heal, and bring good news, exactly as the prophet said. Isaiah 61:1 was fulfilled that day. But the day of vengeance had not arrived yet, and Jesus could not say it was fulfilled when it was not. He is the Truth, and He speaks only truth. He simply declared what was happening that day.
This is not “rightly dividing.”
This is prophecy unfolding, and prophecy often unfolds in stages. The Old Testament itself shows this pattern. For example, Zechariah 9:9 speaks of the Messiah coming “lowly and riding on a donkey,” and Zechariah 14:3–4 speaks of Him standing on the Mount of Olives to fight the nations. These are two different events, but they speak of the same Messiah, not two different dispensations. The time difference is because prophecy must happen in the order God sets. Jesus did not “divide” Scripture; He fulfilled what was ready and left what was not yet.
The second mistake is the claim that Jesus gave “different rules” in different dispensations, as if He changed His teachings. That is not what Scripture says. When Jesus sent the twelve in Matthew 10:5, He said, “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles.” This was because He had a clear order for His ministry. He explained this Himself. In Matthew 15:24He said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Jesus began with Israel first because they were the chosen people who received the covenant. The prophets had said this would happen. After Israel heard Him, the message would go out farther. Isaiah 49:6 says, “I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, that You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.” Jesus followed the pattern God had spoken long before.
When Jesus rose from the dead, the time came for the message to reach all nations. So He said in Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and teach all nations.” This is not a change of commandments. It is the next step of the same plan that God had already spoken. Jesus never canceled anything He taught them earlier. He simply moved them forward in God’s timetable. And He made this clear. Matthew 28:20 says, “Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” He did not erase a single command. He told them to teach the nations the same things He had already taught.
The third mistake is the idea that the listeners in Luke 4 should have “rightly divided” Isaiah and applied the day of vengeance to another people. Scripture never says this. What the people should have done was believe what Jesus told them. The prophets often spoke of future times, and no prophet ever told the people, “This part is not for you to hear.” Jesus simply stated what was fulfilled at that moment. Prophecy has its own timing, but that timing is in God’s hands, not in a system created by men.
The fourth mistake is comparing animal sacrifices to moral commandments. Sacrifices were given for sin until the true Lamb would come. This is what the prophets said. Isaiah 53:7 speaks of the Servant who would be led “as a lamb to the slaughter.” John the Baptist declared the truth when he saw Jesus: “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Once the true Lamb offered Himself, the purpose of animal sacrifices was completed. This is not “right division.” This is fulfillment, exactly as God promised. But the Ten Commandments were never tied to the sacrificial system and were never said to end. Jesus Himself said, “If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17). And He said that not one part of the law will pass “till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18). The sacrificial laws were fulfilled by the sacrifice of Jesus. The moral commandments were never called temporary, and Jesus never treated them as temporary.
So the whole argument collapses for four reasons shown directly by Scripture:
-Jesus was not dividing Scripture but fulfilling the part that applied to His first coming.
-Jesus was not giving different rules for different dispensations but following the order God had already given through the prophets.
-The people in the synagogue did not need dispensations; they needed faith in what was fulfilled before their eyes.
-Animal sacrifices ended because the true Lamb came, not because of a man-made method of dividing Scripture.
This is the testimony of Scripture itself.
Here is Isaiah 61:1–11 from the New King James Version, exactly as written:
Isaiah 61:1–11 (NKJV)
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
3 To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins,
They shall raise up the former desolations,
And they shall repair the ruined cities,
The desolations of many generations.
5 Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,
And the sons of the foreigner
Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6 But you shall be named the priests of the Lord,
They shall call you the servants of our God.
You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,
And in their glory you shall boast.
7 Instead of your shame you shall have double honor,
And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.
Therefore in their land they shall possess double;
Everlasting joy shall be theirs.
8 For I, the Lord, love justice;
I hate robbery for burnt offering;
I will direct their work in truth,
And will make with them an everlasting covenant.
9 Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles,
And their offspring among the people.
All who see them shall acknowledge them,
That they are the posterity whom the Lord has blessed.
10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11 For as the earth brings forth its bud,
As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,
So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise
To spring forth before all the nations.
