No, gravity is the result of centrifugal force (meaning fleeing from center)...as when a ball spins and revolves at the same time.

But think about it (I can't believe we're having to have this elementary discussion), if a flat earth spun--yes--one would jump off a cliff and go sideways, or open your door on one side of your house and it would stay open, but on the other side it would slam shut.

My point was if mass pulls things in, why aren't things pulled into cliffs during free fall near cliffs? If the cliff mass is closer than the ground, it should produce observable results and work to pull us in, even if on a miniscule level. What do you think?

Were you by chance setting up to propose this following experiment?

1. Hypothesis: If earth is a globe (If X), then poles will produce different lengths of shadows (Then Y).
2. Experiment: The poles produce different lengths of shadows (Y).
3. Conclusion: Therefore, the earth is a globe (Therefore, X).
